The Department of Economics and Logistics was founded on September 1, 2012 on the basis of the Department of Economics and Management in Transport. Currently, she is one of the leading departments of the faculty and the university. It consists of 19 teachers, including 3 doctors of economic sciences, 3 professors, 10 associate professors. The history of the department began in 1969, when the Department of Economics and Organization of Automotive and Tractor Production and Motor Transport was established at the Faculty of Engineering and Economics.
In 1990, Doctor of Economics, Professor Ivut Roman Boleslavovich was elected head of the department. He graduated from the Automotive Faculty of the BPI, since 1977 he worked at the Department of Economics and Organization of Automotive Production and Motor Transport as an assistant, associate professor, professor, since 1990 - head of the department. Passed scientific internships in the USA and Germany. Currently Ivut R.B. is a member of the Doctoral Council of the Belarusian State Economic University, the chairman of the educational and methodological association (UMO) of the universities of the Republic of Belarus for education in the field of economics and organization of production. Ivut R.B. prepared 18 candidates and doctors of sciences. Ivut R.B. in 1999, by decree of the Minister of Education, he was awarded the badge "Excellent worker in education of the Republic of Belarus", and in 1996 by the collegium of the Ministry of Transport and Communications - "Honorary transport worker". By Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 528 dated 02.10.2009, for many years of fruitful work, significant achievements in professional activities, merits in the development of science, culture, transport, education, he was awarded the Francysk Skorina medal. In 2012, for many years of conscientious work, professional excellence, a great contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists, Ivut R.B. was awarded the anniversary badge of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus. In 2015, by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of December 9, 2015 No. 483 for many years of scientific and pedagogical activity, a significant personal contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists and the development of higher technical education, active participation in civic activities, expanding the integration ties of education, science and production Ivutyu R .B. awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Education of the Republic of Belarus". For a long time, the department has been training specialists in the following specialties and specializations: "Economics and management in road transport" (qualification - engineer-economist); "Economics and Management in Air Transport" with the qualification of an engineer-economist; "Organization and management of the enterprise" with the qualification of the organizer of production (training was carried out on the basis of secondary specialized economic education); "Commercial activities in the market of goods and services in transport" with the qualification of an economist-merchant; "Accounting, analysis and audit in transport" with the qualification of an accountant-economist; "Evaluation activities in road transport" with the qualification of appraiser engineer (since 2007). In 2008 at the department there was established a prospective for Belarus speciality - 1-27 02 01 "Transport Logistics".
Today, the department is preparing engineers-economists in the specialty 1-27 01 01 "Economics and organization of production" in the direction 1-27 01 01-02 "Economics and organization of production (road transport)" and engineers-economists-logistics in the specialty 1-27 02 01 "Transport logistics" in the direction 1-27 02 01-01 "Transport logistics (road transport)". The department pays great attention to the scientific work of students. A student scientific conference is held annually. Many student scientific works win prizes at various republican and international olympiads and competitions. They get the opportunity to publish their scientific research in the press. Much attention is paid at the department to the training of highly qualified specialists through training in master's, postgraduate and doctoral studies, where not only graduates of the department enter, but also representatives of enterprises and organizations of various sectors of the economy of Belarus, as well as other countries (China, Syria, Uzbekistan, Armenia, etc.). The highly professional work of the staff of the department is evidenced by honorary diplomas and various certificates of administration and the trade union committee of the BNTU, as well as other organizations of both the republic and other countries. Over the past three years, under the leadership of Ivut R.B. three Ph.D. dissertations were defended in the specialty 08.00.05 - Economics and management of the national economy. In the work of the department "Economics and Logistics" an important role is assigned to two branches at the transport enterprises of the republic. Currently active branch of the department on the basis of JSC "Belmagistralavtotrans".
