Choosing a career is one of the most important steps, largely determining the quality of one's adult life. Which field should I pursue and how to remain in demand in the labor market? The Belarusian National Technical University believes this should be considered while still in school, which is why career guidance is given special attention at the university.
To help prospective students find their path, representatives of the IIFoMO's career guidance and promotional work department visited the children's health camp at the BNTU "Polytechnic" sanatorium during the summer holidays. On July 17 and August 14, they met with senior schoolchildren from the second and third shifts. The specialists provided the high school students with detailed information about BNTU, its faculties and specialties, and, most importantly, the importance and high demand for an engineering education.
Furthermore, the students learned a great deal about the world of professions and the personal qualities that help build a successful career. The meeting wasn't limited to theory: the students were offered specialized training methods to help them decide on their future educational path. Some exercises were conducted in a game format, allowing the teenagers to better understand themselves, understand their true interests, and determine in which field they would feel most confident.
The department staff placed particular emphasis on the advantages of engineering specialties compared to other professions. At the end of the meeting, the students received detailed answers to all their questions and took home brochures and informational materials about the university for further study.
We are confident that these summer meetings at Polytechnic will become the starting point for many students on the path to a successful career. After all, an informed choice of specialty is the first step to a great future.
