Stress-free adaptation. Everything a new BNTU student needs to know

Адаптация без стресса. Все, что нужно знать новому студенту БНТУ

The admission campaign for 2026 has been successfully completed — it's time to take a deep breath and fully tune in to a new stage at the Belarusian National Technical University. First-year students will certainly face an unusual rhythm and a lot of challenges in the first weeks. To make the transition from the status of an applicant to the status of a student as smooth as possible and without unnecessary stress, we have prepared some proven tips.

Housing issue

If you are a nonresident student, then you need to apply for a dormitory in the near future. Read more about dates and dormitories in the article (link to Angelina's published article).

The Belarusian National Technical University has a total of 19 dormitories of various types: corridor, block and apartment. Despite the differences of each type, they are all equipped for a comfortable life and study, there are specialized coworking spaces, recreation areas and gyms.

Tip: first, familiarize yourself with all the rules of the internal order in order to know exactly how to behave, what you can take with you, and what is better to leave at home. We also advise you to get to know the administration of your hostel from the very first days, because they will be the ones who will help you solve various situations in the future.

Preparation for training

The BNTU campus is a huge territory that can rightfully be called a city within a city. The main buildings are located in the very center of Minsk between Independence Avenue and Ya. Kolasa Street, within walking distance from the Academy of Sciences metro station. In total, BNTU has 21 academic buildings, classes can be held in different ones, regardless of the faculty. The transfer from building to building will not take more than five minutes, as they are located on the BNTU campus. The exceptions are buildings No. 15, 16 and 20 – they are located in Pervomaisky district, near the Borisovsky Trakt metro station. To quickly integrate into the student life of BNTU, we recommend that you familiarize yourself in advance with the location of your faculty, its dean's office and your department.

The Council: do not delay preparing for the school year at the last moment — purchase separate notebooks for each subject in advance, and also get one common notebook (or notebook) for current notes. It is convenient to record important details, organizational issues and personal plans for the whole semester there. Usually, in the first classes, teachers voice important nuances of the discipline, and if you keep such notes, then all the tests, colloquiums, deadlines and other events will not be taken by surprise.

University opportunities

At BNTU, you can prove yourself not only in studies, but also in cultural, sports, scientific and social spheres. You can realize your potential from the very first days.  In the future, this will allow you to achieve great heights, and the experience gained will be very useful not only at the university, but also in the future workplace.

So, BNTU actively employs organizations, of which any student can become a member — the student council, the NGO "BRSM" with the rights of the Republic of Kazakhstan BNTU, the primary trade union organization of BNTU students, the Department of Cultural Affairs, the council of young scientists, the sports club, BSJ — in each of them the initiatives of students will definitely be noticed.

Over the years of studying at BNTU, students have participated in dozens of events: they reveal their creative potential at the BNTU Spring Festival and the VideoRadius competition, strengthen their patriotic spirit at the Memory of Generations forum and republican actions, realize their scientific ambitions in the 100 Ideas for Belarus project, defend their sporting honor at the Republican Universiade and other sports events. events. Traditional quests for first-year students, for example, "PoliQuest" and activist forums ("Student shift of BNTU", "StudIntensiv 2.0") help newcomers quickly integrate into the busy life of the university. The above is only a small fraction of the opportunities that open up to BNTU students.

Tip: don't wait to be invited, but come up and ask. As a rule, interesting opportunities open up for those who take the initiative themselves.

Own adaptation route

Feel free to ask questions and don't stay away — a lively dialogue with fellow students will be your main assistant at the start. Communication not only helps to find friends and like-minded people, but also accelerates getting used to a new rhythm, people and place.

Tip: don't be afraid to start a conversation first, because the university values openness and initiative.

Now all the horizons of BNTU are opening up before you: explore the possibilities of the university, choose the direction you like and feel free to join the student life.
