Do the Right Thing: Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy

We continue the "Do the Right Thing" series for applicants and tell you about the uniqueness of the faculties of BNTU. Today, we are talking about the faculty that has been training unique specialists at the intersection of engineering and pedagogy for over half a century – the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy (FEP).

What is the Engineering and Pedagogical Faculty like?

 The Engineering and Pedagogical Faculty is a place where both engineers and teachers are trained for the system of vocational, secondary specialized, and higher education. Here, you can become not just a teacher, but a specialist who has a deep understanding of technical disciplines and is able to transfer this knowledge to future workers, foremen, engineers, and perform work and calculations themselves, as well as lead teams. Alexey Drobysh, the Dean of the Faculty, provided more details about the faculty.

– The Faculty of Engineering and Education was founded in 1964 and remains a leading center for training teachers for vocational and secondary specialized education to this day. For over half a century, the faculty's mission has remained unchanged - to combine deep technical knowledge with advanced educational methods. The faculty's unique feature lies in its concept of training specialists for industrial enterprises and educational institutions.

 The educational process at the Faculty of Engineering and Education is a harmonious balance between in-depth engineering and psychological-pedagogical training. Students study resistance of materials and descriptive geometry along with pedagogy, psychology, and methods of industrial training.

 – BNTU has modern educational and production workshops and laboratories equipped with metal-working machines, electrical stands, and 3D printers, and students study engineering disciplines at the university's specialized faculties. From the second year, students participate in teaching practices at leading colleges in Minsk to hone their teaching skills in front of real audiences, – said Alexey Drobysh.

During the training process, students receive in-depth theoretical training in engineering and psychological and pedagogical disciplines, the content of which is determined by the chosen profile. For example, for the "Applied Programming" profile, this includes modern programming languages and systems (C++, C#), database programming languages and systems (SQL, Access, Oracle), computer-aided design systems (AutoCAD, KOMPAS-3D), engineering and scientific calculation systems (Matlab, MathCAD), graphic packages (Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw 3D Studio MAX), Internet technologies, and others.

– Dear applicants, when choosing a profession, ask yourself: do I want to not only work with technology, but also be able to spark interest in it in the eyes of others? An engineer-teacher is a double force. You receive fundamental engineering training within the walls of the country's leading technical university and simultaneously learn the most complex and noble science – the science of teaching. 

 My main advice is: do not be afraid of responsibility. If you feel the desire to become a mentor for future professionals, to pass on your skills to them – come to us. Our faculty will give you reliable tools, and your genuine passion and knowledge gained here will make you a sought-after specialist for life.

 Student life at the Faculty

Studying at the Faculty of Industrial and Applied Physics is also a whirlwind of emotions! Every student can express their talents in creative groups, demonstrate their character in sports clubs, travel with student groups, or become a volunteer. Regular faculty events, contests, field trips, and unforgettable first-year days will make your university years vibrant and exciting.

In the 2025/2026 academic year, the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy (FEP) of BNTU confirmed its high status: 2nd place in the departmental competition and 3rd place for the Department of Psychology among the university departments. In the field of educational work, the faculty was awarded a diploma for the best organization of ideological education and took 1st place in the prevention of offenses. The curators are also among the best: 2nd place – Valeria Vasilevskaya, 2nd place – Kristina Pavlovskaya (among the 2nd year students), 1st place – Yulia Susha (among the 3rd year students).

 Students and teachers also performed well. In the photo contest "A Moment of My Life," student Valeria Rakovich was awarded a 2nd-degree diploma. This year, the faculty took an active part in the contests "Mr. BNTU" and "Miss BNTU", and the result of active preparation and support was the nomination "In Everyone's Heart" for Roman Soroko and the title "Miss BNTU online" for Elizaveta Poshelyuk. Student group 10903724 became the winner in the intellectual stage of the contest "The Best Study Group" and won the diploma of the III degree in the overall standings.

Students and faculty members of the IPF also take an active part in national, university-wide, and faculty-wide volunteer activities, which once again proves the students’ involvement and interest not only in scientific activities.

 As the dean of the faculty notes, the IPF’s talents are the pride of the faculty. And everyone who comes here leaves a piece of themselves here to find something more. The main thing is to choose what you like, and don’t forget: BNTU is the choice of the best.
