A person leading a departmental trade union must be able to stand up for justice, get along with people, and approach each individual personally. A large team works under their leadership, and it is precisely these leadership qualities that make them indispensable. Meet the new chair of the departmental trade union organization — Rebekevsha Vladislav.
– Hi, introduce yourself and tell us about you.
– I am Rebekevsha Vladislav Pavlovich. I have become the head of the trade union organization of the PSF. People come to me with a problem — they leave with a solution.
– Why the Instrument-Making Faculty?
– I chose the Instrument-Making Faculty because I immediately felt that the people here are of a special kind: smart and kind. Working and studying with such people is a joy. Also, I saw that the faculty desperately needed me. Since my arrival, everything works like clockwork.
– Tell us about your major. What caught your attention?
– My major is called "Metrology, Standardization, and Quality Control." During the admissions campaign, I reviewed the entire list of majors, but they told me about this one, and it seemed interesting and promising to me.
– How did you become the chair of the departmental trade union organization?
– The previous chair, Daria Serikh, announced last year that she was looking for a replacement. After thinking it over, I decided to put forward my candidacy. Before that, I had been actively participating in events and the life of the faculty. Working together with Dasha, I gained experience, and after the reporting and election conference, I assumed the position.
– What are your responsibilities?
– As the chair of the trade union organization at the faculty, my work is primarily aimed at protecting the interests of trade union members among students and improving their learning conditions. Specifically, my duties include:
Organizing interaction with the faculty administration regarding the socio-economic situation of students and improving learning conditions at the faculty.
Representing students' interests in various faculty commissions and councils, participating in decision-making on important issues of academic and student community life at trade union committee meetings.
Organizing cultural events, sports competitions, and educational activities for students.
Providing consultations and events on students' rights and responsibilities, assisting in resolving conflicts and problems.
Supporting student activism, developing student self-government, and participating in the creation and implementation of projects aimed at improving students' learning and living conditions at the faculty.
– Name your strengths that help you in your role as chair.
– My strengths could be listed for a long time: strategic thinking, the ability to listen to the audience, a talent for solving problems quickly. But that's all just words. The most important thing is to remain human. To help not because the position requires it, but because you can't do otherwise. That is the true meaning of being a trade union chair. Not just signing papers, but sensing who is struggling the most right now and making sure they feel better. Kindness is my main quality.
