BNTU Associate Professor Introduces Geodesy Profession to High School Students in Molodechno

Доцент БНТУ познакомил старшеклассников Молодечно с профессией геодезиста

As part of career guidance work, Vladimir Vaganovich Mkrtchyan, Associate Professor of the Department of Geodesy and Aerospace Geotechnologies at the Belarusian National Technical University, visited secondary schools in the city of Molodechno on May 4. The meetings with high school students took place at secondary schools No. 9 and No. 11, where students were provided with information about the “Geodesy” specialisation.

The schoolchildren were introduced to the profession of a geodetic engineer, which covers a wide range of tasks: from high-precision field measurements to the creation of digital models, topographic plans and maps, as well as providing layout work for the construction of unique structures. For illustrative purposes, video materials about the department’s facilities, the educational process at the Faculty of Transport Communications, and the key admission requirements for BNTU were shown.

The students showed particular interest in the discussion of modern instrumental equipment in geodesy: the use of electronic total stations, satellite navigation systems and laser scanning technologies. In an open dialogue format, the students asked questions about the duration and difficulty of studies, opportunities for practical training, and the subsequent employment of young professionals.

Such outreach events play an important role in career guidance, allowing direct contact between applicants and representatives of the graduating department. This helps young people obtain reliable information about their chosen field, assess their prospects in engineering, and take an informed step towards acquiring an in-demand technical profession.
