Tomorrow, October 1, Delsar (Minsk) and Dumate (Moscow) will host a joint webinar titled "Metaknowledge About Metadata: Universal Methods for Preparing a Scientific Publication" for authors of research articles. Researchers often view the abstract, title, and keywords as mere formalities preceding the main text. However, these elements are precisely what represent the work within information systems and databases. Their quality directly determines the success of searchability and ensures the publication is correctly understood by other scholars.
The online session will provide a detailed breakdown of rules for selecting keywords and the secrets to crafting an effective title. Participants will learn how to properly structure information within the abstract and link all parts of the article according to the international IMRaD model. Additionally, the speaker will explain exactly what should be included in each section to establish a clear, logical flow. A proper structure helps articles easily pass review by even the strictest editors and peer reviewers.
Irina Korotkina—Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, and Head of the Academic Writing Center at the Presidential Academy (RANEPA)—will share her expertise with participants. She is an author of research publications, textbooks, and monographs on academic writing and develops professional development courses focused on scientific publishing.
The event organizers are also well-versed in the subject matter. For instance, Dumate develops specialized services for plagiarism detection and neural network applications, while Delsar specialists have been assisting Belarusian universities and research libraries with information support for over thirty years. The webinar will begin at 15:00. As a nice bonus, attendees will receive a personalized electronic certificate, provided they attend the entire broadcast.
