BAKU – On May 5, 2026, the 19th Azerbaijan International Agriculture Exhibition – Caspian Agro 2026 – officially opened its doors in Baku, bringing together key players from the global agricultural sector.
Over the years, Caspian Agro has cemented its reputation as a powerful industry platform, driving the adoption of cutting-edge technologies in Azerbaijan’s agribusiness sector. The event facilitates valuable knowledge exchange and helps forge lasting, mutually beneficial partnerships between local and international agricultural professionals. The exhibition annually brings together key industry stakeholders, foreign and domestic experts, and thousands of professional visitors, including importers, exporters, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and farmers.
Running concurrently with Caspian Agro are the Caspian Agro Week forum, the Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibition (InterFood Azerbaijan), and the Caspian International Hospitality Exhibition (Horeca Caspian). The industries featured at the exhibition traditionally receive close attention from the state. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has visited both the Caspian Agro Week and InterFood Azerbaijan exhibitions, touring the expo and meeting participants at the Baku Expo Centre.

This year, Caspian Agro has attracted around 250 exhibitors from 24 countries: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Georgia, Egypt, Israel, India, Iran, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Latvia, the Netherlands, Russia, the United States, Turkey, France, Sweden, Sri Lanka, South Korea, and Japan.
The 2026 exhibition covers a broad range of thematic sectors, including Smart Agriculture, agricultural machinery, waste management, livestock and poultry farming, animal feed, veterinary medicine, crop production, fruit and vegetable growing, and innovative agricultural technologies.
For context, Azerbaijan is a mid-level industrial-agrarian state with a well-developed industrial base and a diversified agricultural sector. The nation’s economy has traditionally been anchored by oil and gas extraction, refining, chemicals (mineral fertilizers, synthetic rubber, automotive tires), engineering, mining (iron ore and alunite), and non-ferrous metallurgy.
In 2025–2026, the Azerbaijani economy is transitioning to a moderate growth trajectory of approximately 1.4–2.2%, as a slowdown in the oil and gas sector is counterbalanced by expansion in non-oil industries. GDP growth is being driven by construction, trade, and services. At the end of 2025, GDP rose by 1.6%, following 4.1% growth in 2024. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy projects GDP growth of 2.9% in 2026 and 3.3% in 2027.
The GDP structure for 2025 is as follows: industry accounts for 33% of GDP; trade and vehicle repair, 11.3%; transport and warehousing, 7.1%; construction, 6.5%; agriculture, forestry, and fishing, 5.9%; accommodation and food services, 2.8%; information and communication, 2.1%; other sectors, 21.7%; while net taxes on products and imports make up 9.6%.
Azerbaijan’s exports include oil, gas, refined petroleum products (including petroleum coke and bitumen), food products, and non-oil non-food goods such as raw materials (ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including aluminum), precious metals (gold), intermediate goods, chemical products (including polypropylene), and satellite services. Its import structure comprises foodstuffs, pharmaceutical products, furniture, metals, soaps and detergents, glass and stone products, sugar, vegetables, grain products, wood and paper goods, and railway equipment.

Representing the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Education is showcasing some 40 innovative developments at the exhibition. At the Ministry’s collective stand, organized by the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU), visitors can discover pioneering work from BNTU (including its state enterprise, Science and Technology Park of BNTU “Polytechnic”), Belarusian State University, Belarusian State University of Food and Chemical Technologies, and Brest State Technical University.
