Today, May 5, on the eve of Victory Day, the Belarusian National Technical University hosted the "Forever in Memory" competition on the history of the Great Patriotic War. Representatives of the faculties and the Lyceum of BNTU participated in the event, competing in erudition, logic, and teamwork.
Igor Servachinsky, Deputy Dean of the Instrument Engineering Faculty, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. He emphasized the tournament's main message: if you don't remember the past, people will have no future.
The quiz consisted of two rounds of 20 questions each, testing knowledge of dates, key battles, and historical figures. The teams had to demonstrate their knowledge of military operations and their ability to work with archival photographs.
Timur Matyushinetz, Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work at BNTU, presented the well-deserved awards to the winners. The following teams emerged as the best history experts in the competition:
A member of the BNTU Lyceum team shared his impressions of the tournament. Nikita spoke about the rigorous preparation process and the importance of the project. According to him, the team prepared for the quiz for over two weeks:
– We read reference books and took tests from previous years. I'm sure such quizzes are essential because they not only help develop intellectual abilities but also preserve the memory of our history.
His teammate, Kirill, highlighted the most challenging moments of the game. However, the young man admitted that some questions were answered quickly:
– The hardest part was identifying the front commanders. The question about the third city after Moscow where celebratory fireworks thundered was truly surprising and thought-provoking. But we cracked some other military topics like nuts.
The "Forever in Memory" competition once again proved that BNTU students remember their heroic past and treasure the events of the Great Patriotic War.
