More than 300 reports in seven sections. The PSF hosted the conference "New directions of instrumentation development"

The conference opened on April 16, beginning with an introductory speech by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee,  Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, and, A.M. Malyarevich.

A report on promising developments of RUDENSK OJSC was delivered by the Deputy Director for Strategic Development – Head of the Department of Advanced Developments at RUDENSK OJSC, Andrey Vasilyevich Zabolotny. Graduates of the PSF, and now employees of RUDENSK OJSC, Anton Sheiko and Ksenia Shabalko, shared their impressions of working at RUDENSK OJSC.

The Head of the Semiconductor Technology Laboratory, Konstantin Vladimirovich Panteleev, spoke about the laboratory's promising developments and the research work of students in the Student Research Laboratory "Instrumentation Engineering."

A report on the implementation of reverse engineering processes in machine-building companies was presented by the Chief Engineer of STM Engineering LLC, Viktor Petrovich Yevteev, who later conducted a master class on this topic.

Based on the results of the annual international competition of research papers by students, master's students, and postgraduates "Professor-33," diplomas were awarded to Albina Khomyachkova, a postgraduate student at Tula State University, and Sergey Chergeyko, a postgraduate student at the Belarusian National Technical University.

During the plenary session, awards were presented to students who made significant contributions to science at the PSF this year; 9 people received awards.

After the plenary session, participants and attendees moved on to work in thematic sections.

The second day of the conference, April 17, 2026, was entirely dedicated to events that helped participants and attendees gain new knowledge and skills. On that day, open lectures were held on various topics, including:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Students: Study Smarter! – on the use of AI in academic and research work

  • The Code of Science: Rules for Effective Academic Writing – on how to write scientific papers correctly

  • Houston, We Have a Problem! Instruments and Space – on the importance of considering operating conditions when designing instruments

  • Modern Laser Heterostructures: The Role of Zhores Alferov – on the historical contribution of Zh. Alferov to modern optics and optoelectronics

The lectures gathered many students, both conference participants and students who are enthusiasts of science.

The range of topics covered by the master classes was no less impressive:

  • How to Build an Instrument? – basic skills in SolidWorks CAD

  • Scanning and Reverse Engineering of a Product Enclosure – reverse engineering of instruments using simple parts as examples and a 3D scanner

  • Modeling Thermal Conductivity and Calculating Temperature Distribution in Instruments – on practical aspects of numerical modeling in SolidWorks CAD

  • Electronics for Dummies – on basic electronic devices and principles of operation

  • Surface Analysis of Micro- and Nanostructures Using Atomic Force Microscopy – on the capabilities of atomic force microscopy and the use of atomic force microscopes in applied applications

  • Modern Technology of Radiation Measurements – on the types, operating principles, and features of modern radiation measurement instruments

  • A Smart Sensor in the Palm of Your Hand: Building a Wireless Weather Station on STM32 from Scratch – on the design, operation, and construction of devices based on microcontrollers

  • Connecting Components: Micro-welding in MEMS Production – on practical aspects of micro-welding in semiconductor manufacturing

Attendees of the master classes gained useful skills that they can apply in their future endeavors.

On April 17, 2026, the 19th International Scientific and Technical Conference of Young Scientists and Students, "New Directions in Instrumentation Engineering," came to a close. As part of the summary, the best reports of the conference were awarded diplomas of the first, second, and third degrees. The awards were presented by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, A.M. Malyarevich, and the Dean of the PSF, A.I. Svistun.

Twenty-nine people took part in the quest "#IAMASCIENTIST," held within the framework of the conference. This quest helped popularize research work among first- and second-year university students. The quest concluded on the second day of the conference with a prize drawing; the first prize went to Valeriya Devochko, a second-year student at the PSF.

The Organizing Committee expresses its sincere gratitude to all participants, attendees, guests, and organizers of the conference and invites them to take part in the upcoming jubilee, 20th conference, which will take place in the spring of 2027.
