FITR at the BNTU Spring 2026 Creativity Festival

ФИТР на фестивале студенческого творчества «Весна БНТУ – 2026»

The Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics approached its participation in the “BNTU Spring 2026” festival with accumulated experience, new ideas, and a strong inner drive, having begun preparations long before stepping onto the stage. The starting point was the traditional winter trip to the BNTU health resort, where the team held its first gatherings. Even then, participants arrived with ideas and early concepts, inspired by previous achievements — victory at the STEM Festival last year, the striking final touch of the video project at the “Videoradius” competition, as well as the increased support of the faculty administration after the successful organization of “FITR Freshman Day 2026.” It was precisely this kind of result that drew a large number of proactive and motivated first-year students into the faculty’s creative movement. While participation had previously been seen primarily as an opportunity for self-realization, this year the team consciously set itself a more ambitious goal — to compete for victory in the overall standings.

Each competition day began with the faculty’s video introduction, which set the tone for the performance, so work on it became one of the earliest stages of preparation. Through it, the team sought to convey the vivid and emotional atmosphere of a huge home filled with the most devoted friends, ready to support one another at any moment, even when things were “burning” so intensely that it could be seen from afar… Certain lines and images accurately reflected the state of the group during the preparation process. At the same time, what mattered was not who stood behind the camera and edited the material, but what they managed to convey on the screen.

Song Day was one of the most emotional stages. The concept of the performance underwent many changes before the team settled on the image of a strong woman overcoming her inner fears. Symbolically, in the Year of the Belarusian Woman, this idea became the foundation of the production. Through dance, plastic movement, and stage imagery, the participants sought to reveal the theme of inner struggle and support. To bring the idea to life, a separate group of dancers was assembled, and the visual elements were carefully developed — the sword in the stone, armor, and the final scene of unity. Particular attention was paid to details. For example, a ring was handcrafted as a reference to the faculty’s idea in the Instrumental Music Festival. Despite the anxiety and the difficulty of combining vocals with choreography, the team managed to cope with the task and convey the intended idea to the audience.

STEM Day became a real challenge for the team this year. After last year’s result, there was a desire not simply to repeat their success, but to rethink the approach: to find a new form, raise the bar, and at the same time preserve sincerity. The production was based on the relevant theme of growing up, revealed through the prism of a child’s inner world — imagination, vulnerability, and an encounter with a more complex reality. At first, the idea seemed difficult to realize on stage; however, in the course of the work, the team found expressive solutions: carefully thought-out transitions between scenes, changes of location using screen effects, the image of a “shelter” in the form of a children’s pillow fort, as well as the lively reaction of the ensemble to what was happening with the main characters, which enhanced the emotional perception. The ending turned out truly touching and left a strong impression on the audience. Special attention was paid to casting actors for the character roles and to the work of the set designers, who faced the challenging task of creating modular yet reliable structures. A particularly important role in the success of the number was played by the expressive acting of one of the lead performers.

Instrumental Music Day became an experiment that the team did not decide on immediately. Initially, the idea involved a heavy sound, which raised doubts about how close it would feel to a broad audience. In the end, however, it was successfully presented in an organic, recognizable, and audience-friendly form through imagery from the series “Stranger Things.” Over the course of several months, some participants mastered new performance techniques, refining the sound to the required level. At the same time, the stage image was being developed: to create a deeper immersion in the atmosphere, a video teaser was prepared, and the performance itself was complemented by choreographic elements and unusual plastic solutions. Particular attention was paid to the construction of the number — an interesting move was the distribution of the key musical part among the participants by analogy with a scene from the game “Death Stranding 2.” There were also difficulties: the team spent a long time searching for suitable visual solutions for costumes and images, while the final touches, including the design of the podium, were added literally in the last hours before the performance.

Dance Day became one of the most thoroughly developed stages of preparation. Work on the number began in advance: the participants independently designed and sewed costumes, and thought through individual looks and makeup options. In the dressing room on the day of the performance, a kind of “paint-and-polish assembly line” even unfolded, where within just a few hours the participants brought their appearance to its final form. A particular challenge was working with ribbons, which required precision and perfect synchronization, the achievement of which demanded great accuracy and persistence from the team during rehearsals. At the same time, there had been no previously formed dance group — the number was created through the efforts of all those who cared, those who were passionate about the idea and ready to invest themselves in the common result.

Preparation for the festival brought together dozens of people and required coordinated work in every direction — from rehearsals to technical support. The last two weeks were especially intense: run-throughs took place daily from morning until evening, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., covering all the competition days. Despite fatigue, colds, and physical strain, the team continued working in full force. At the same time, a great deal of behind-the-scenes work was underway: some participants selected and mixed the musical material, others designed and assembled structures for the performances, including screen solutions for STEM and the video introduction, others worked on developing the productions, while the costume team pieced together the stage images bit by bit. It was precisely this work, invisible at first glance, that became the foundation of the integrity and expressiveness of all the performances.

The festival results exceeded all expectations. Across all competition days, the team demonstrated a high level in every genre: 3rd place — Song Festival, 2nd place — STEM Festival, 2nd place — Instrumental Music Festival, as well as the “Winner in the Eyes of Participants” category, and 3rd place in the Dance Festival, where the team also received the nomination “Bright Stage Image.” Faculty student Gleb Kvachenyuk was awarded victory in the “Best Male Role” nomination. The most unexpected and joyful event was the awarding of first place to the faculty in the overall standings based on the results of the entire festival. The participants express special gratitude for the support of the audience in the hall and of the creative teams from other faculties for their congratulations and words of encouragement after each performance.

This festival became for the Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics not only a test of professional and creative skills, but also an important stage in strengthening the unity of the team. Every competition day, every rehearsal, and every detail of the stage served as a reminder that the strength of a team lies in supporting one another and believing in a shared idea. “BNTU Spring 2026” left a bright mark in the history of the faculty, inspiring participants toward new projects and becoming a symbol of creative growth, energy, and true friendship that unites everyone involved in these performances.
