BNTU Selects Strongest Speakers to Compete in City Stage of the All-Belarusian Debate League

В БНТУ выбрали сильнейших ораторов для участия в городском этапе Всебелорусской лиги дебатов

Yesterday, on March 19, 2026, the university qualifying round of the republican competition "All-Belarusian Debate League" was held at the Belarusian National Technical University. Students from various faculties gathered to demonstrate the art of persuasion, logic, and oratory skills in intellectual duels.

The event was organized by the BNTU Primary Organization of the public association "Belaya Rus" and the BNTU Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs. A competent jury evaluated the performances, which consisted of:

  • Timur Matyushinets, Chairman of the BNTU Primary Organization of "Belaya Rus," Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work at BNTU;
  • Nadezhda Popkova, Deputy General Director for Ideological Work at the BNTU Science and Technology Park "Polytechnic";
  • Irina Gud, Head of the BNTU Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs;
  • Tatiana Prots, Deputy Chairman of the BNTU Primary Organization of "Belaya Rus," Deputy Dean for Ideological and Educational Work at the Faculty of Marketing, Management, and Entrepreneurship.

The "All-Belarusian Debate League" is not just a student competition but a prestigious republican platform that annually brings together the best young speakers from across the country. Participation in the League gives students a unique opportunity to express themselves, learn to deeply analyze socio-political processes, and develop their own perspective on current issues of our time.

For BNTU students, advancing to the city stage is a great honor and responsibility. Victory in the qualifying round opens the path to participation in prestigious intellectual competitions at the capital city level, where they will represent BNTU in competition against Minsk's strongest teams. The competition is highly valued not only in academic circles but also among future employers.

The skills that students acquire while preparing for and participating in debates are of great importance for their further professional and personal growth. In today’s world, regardless of one’s chosen specialty, success largely depends on the ability to clearly formulate thoughts, argue convincingly in defense of one's position, and find common ground with opponents.

During the intense competition, participants discussed a wide range of issues—from the digitalization of education to social initiatives and the role of youth in modern society. The students demonstrated not only deep knowledge but also the ability to work as a team, respond quickly to opponents' arguments, and strictly adhere to the time limits.

Based on the results of the qualifying round, the jury selected the team that will represent BNTU at the city stage of the All-Belarusian Debate League. The winners demonstrated a high level of preparation and the ability to defend their position, proving that a successful engineer of the future is one who can persuade as skillfully as they can calculate.

We congratulate the students on their victory and wish them a successful performance at the city stage, where they will compete against the best teams from the capital!
