Today, March 19, the BNTU academic buildings were bustling with activity in the sections of the XV Republican Competition of Scientific and Technical Creativity for Students "TechnoIntellect".
The work was organized by thematic areas, covering areas from technical design and ecology to high-tech, where participants demonstrated software products and hardware systems for automating industrial processes. Experts assessed not only the relevance of the ideas but also their practical applicability to the real economy.
Particular attention was paid to projects aimed at improving safety. Maria, a student at the Minsk State Radio Engineering College, shared her impressions after presenting in the "Robotics, Automation, and Intelligent Systems" section:
– I presented a project called 'Safe Roadway Crossing System,' aimed at modernizing pedestrian crossings on highways using cameras and real-time video analytics systems. This helps reduce the risk of accidents. Immediately after defending my thesis, I felt relieved, as the preparation had been very nerve-wracking. I believe I answered the jury's technical questions well and did my best. The level of the other students' projects was very high; the scale of the national event was immediately apparent.
One participant noted that working on the project brought him, above all, practical benefits and valuable engineering experience. In the "Power and Electrical Engineering" section. Nikita, an 11th-grade student at Voronovskaya Secondary School, spoke about the importance of learning from mistakes in the "Energy-Saving Technologies" competition:
– My development is a compressed-air energy storage system that can be maximally effective in the conditions of our republic. At this stage of the competition, the judges' questions were significantly more challenging, but for me, the most important thing was the experience, not just winning. When designing the prototype, I made many unsuccessful models, but now I can create what I need almost on the first try. Working with literature and presentations is a skill that will definitely come in handy in the future.
Alexander, a student at Moscow's Secondary School No. 203 named after the Heroes of the 100th Order of Lenin Rifle Division, emphasized the creation of comfortable learning conditions and improving his own productivity as the main goal of his project. He presented his idea in the "Aviation, Cosmonautics, and Aerospace Engineering" section:
– My project is called 'Microclimate Parameter Meter.'" It monitors temperature, humidity, and carbon dioxide levels and provides recommendations for normalizing the environment, preventing errors in work due to external factors. The idea came to me when I was thinking about how to improve my efficiency, get things done, and feel good. After defending my dissertation, I felt like a huge burden had been lifted, as it was crucial for me to present the idea to the experts. I plan to continue refining the device.
At the same time, expert committees for creative disciplines were organized in the classrooms. The works were evaluated without the authors' personal presence within the "Graphics," "Painting," and "Composition" sections. In their submitted projects, the authors reflected their vision of the urban environment, natural landscapes, and futuristic architectural solutions.
Thus, the main day of the 15th TechnoIntellect National Competition concluded. This day demonstrated the multifaceted potential of Belarusian youth and the high level of their engineering ingenuity. The expert jury will sum up the results soon, and the winners will be announced tomorrow, March 20.
