Yesterday, March 12, 2026, students from study group 10903723 of the Engineering and Pedagogics Faculty, together with curator Kristina Pavlovskaya, visited the House-Museum of the First Congress of the RSDLP as part of their ideological and educational outreach. This museum is one of the capital's most significant historical museums, dedicated to an event that played a significant role in the political history of the late 19th century. The museum's exhibits chronicle the preparation and conduct of the First Congress of the RSDLP, held in Minsk in 1898.
For reference: The House-Museum of the First Congress of the RSDLP is located in a historic building from the late 19th century, where a secret meeting of representatives of Social Democratic organizations was held in March 1898. It was here that the decision to found the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party was made. Today, the museum preserves documents, photographs, and household items from that era, allowing visitors to better understand the atmosphere and historical significance of this event.
At the entrance, visitors are greeted by a reconstructed interior of a late 19th-century Minsk house. The central element of the exhibition is the room where the historic meeting of delegates was held. The interior has been reconstructed based on historical sources and archival materials: here, visitors can see period furniture, writing instruments, documents, and photographs related to the revolutionary movement. The exhibition provides a detailed account of the congress's participants, the conditions under which it was held, and its significance for the subsequent development of political history.
"I was particularly impressed by the reconstruction of the room where the meeting of delegates was held. The exhibits allow one to imagine the atmosphere of that time and understand the importance of this event," shared Valery, a student in the study group.
Furthermore, the museum's atmosphere itself helped immerse visitors in the late 19th century and grasp the historical significance of the events that took place there.
