In the lead-up to World Civil Defense Day, rescuers are reminding residents of key safety rules and the history of the defense system's development. An information and propaganda campaign, "Safety Day. Attention Everyone!", has been launched in the republic.
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering held civil defense drills on February 26 and 27. Staff and students practiced responding to the "Attention Everyone!" civil defense alert signal and activating the local alert system.
For reference: civil defense protective structures are immovable property, including engineering structures, designed to shelter people, equipment, and property from hazards arising from accidents or disasters at potentially hazardous facilities or natural disasters in the areas where these facilities are located, as well as from the effects of modern weapons.
Thematic sessions were led by Elena Nikolaevna Kostyukevich, Deputy Dean for Ideological and Educational Work at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; Sergey Vladimirovich Rogovoy, Head of the Sovetsky District Department of Emergency Situations; and Vladimir Ivanovich Aleinikov, Head of the Emergency Situations and Civil Defense Sector at BNTU.
Students were able to proceed to the shelter upon hearing the "Attention All" signal, where they were introduced to its location and the internal technical communications that ensure the safety of people during emergencies.
The main advice from rescuers is to remain calm in any emergency, carefully monitor official announcements, and strictly follow instructions. It is important to pass on this information to neighbors and provide assistance to children, the elderly, and the sick.
