Master's Thesis Defense: Innovations in Machine Building and Future Technologies

On January 27, 2026, an important academic event took place at the Department of Technological Equipment – the defense of master's theses. On this day, the graduates of the master's degree, who studied in the specialty "innovative technologies in mechanical engineering", presented their research papers.

During the defense, six undergraduates presented their scientific research. The breadth and depth of the topics studied confirmed that the department focuses on the most advanced areas of technology development: digital modeling, additive and subtractive technologies, improving the accuracy and productivity of equipment.

The defended works aroused keen interest and serious discussion. The master's students demonstrated not only deep theoretical knowledge, but also practical results with potential application at industrial enterprises:

  • Pavel Torotko with the topic "Analysis of the Carrying Systems of Broaching Machines" (scientific advisor – Professor of the Department Alexander Yakimovich) – the study is aimed at increasing the rigidity and accuracy of unique high-performance equipment;
  • Alexander Potapov presented his work "Research and Implementation of Polygonal Turning of Polyhedral Surfaces on CNC Lathes" (scientific advisor: Professor Viktor Danilov) - this technology allows for the production of complex profiles in a single operation, significantly reducing the time required to manufacture parts.
  • Veronika Danilovich defended her thesis on "Analysis of the Influence of Processing Parameters on the Grinding Process of Ceramic Products" (scientific advisor: Professor Olga Yatskevich) - this work is crucial for the development of finishing technologies for modern composite materials.
  • Dmitry Shpakevich studied the promising "Technology of Laser Cleaning of Metal Surfaces" (scientific supervisor: Professor Olga Yatskevich of the Department), which is an environmentally friendly and highly accurate method of cleaning surfaces from various types of contaminants, serving as an alternative to traditional sandblasting and chemical cleaning;
  • Dmitry Lyutarovich focused on "Modeling of Working Elements in Impact-Centrifugal Crushers" (scientific supervisor: Professor Olga Yatskevich of the Department), aiming to optimize the design of technological equipment for the mining, processing, and construction industries.
  • Mikhail Sivak spoke on the topic "Simulation of the Kinematics and Dynamics of CNC Metal-Cutting Machines" (scientific advisor: Professor Olga Yatskevich of the Department), which is a fundamental work that allows for the prediction and improvement of the accuracy of processing technological equipment based on simulation by making corrections to the control programs.

 The event was particularly significant due to the composition of the State Examination Commission, which included not only a leading professor of the Department, but also key specialists from the leading companies in the Belarusian mechanical engineering industry:

  • Alexander Yakimovich, Professor of the Department (Chair of the Commission);
  • Alexander Fedorets is the Chief Designer of OAO MZOR.
  • Aleksandr Shakhnovich is the Head of the Technological and Design Department of Special Tools and Technological Equipment of the Department of the Chief Technologist of OAO MTZ.

 The Secretary of the Commission was the Senior Lecturer of the Department, Yulia Kasach, who ensured the impeccable organization and documentation of the defense procedure.

 The Head of the Department of Technological Equipment, Rostislav Fedortsev, was also present at the defense and actively participated in the discussion of the works. His attention and professional comments highlighted the high significance of this event for the department.

This combination of academic and industrial experience ensured the most objective and practice-oriented assessment of the works. The questions and recommendations from the enterprise representatives focused primarily on the potential for implementing the developments and their economic efficiency.

 The defense of the master's theses at the department successfully concluded an important stage in the training of highly qualified engineering personnel. The presented works not only meet the high academic standards of BNTU but also directly address the challenges facing the domestic engineering industry.

The Department of Technological Equipment at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering congratulates the new masters and wishes them further success in their professional and scientific activities.
