BNTU Open Day: Applicants Immerse Themselves in the World of Packaging Symbols

День открытых возможностей БНТУ: абитуриенты погрузились в мир символики упаковки

On January 17, 2026, the Belarusian National Technical University held an Open Day, an annual event that opens the university's doors to prospective students. On this day, guests had the opportunity to explore the university's academic programs, engage with faculty members, and participate in various activities. One of the standout events was a master class organized by the Department of Industrial Design and Packaging.

Under the guidance of Irina Strigelskaya, a senior lecturer at the department, participants delved into the topic of "Symbolic Signs in Packaging Design." The master class was not just a lecture, but a real creative dialogue about how visual images shape a product's identity and influence consumer perception.

The students learned that a logo is not just a decorative element, but a powerful communication tool that can convey brand values, emphasize sustainability, uniqueness, or inspire trust. Irina Strigelskaya also emphasized the importance of striking a balance between functionality, aesthetics, and meaning, especially in the context of the growing demand for sustainable and conscious packaging solutions.

In the practical part, schoolchildren and college students created their own sketches of symbols, experimented with shapes and graphic techniques, and received personal recommendations from the teacher. The atmosphere was rich, friendly, and inspiring.

"Today, a good designer is not only an artist, but also a strategist and a thinker who is responsible for how a product will live in the world," Irina Strigelskaya said at the end of the meeting.

The event was a clear demonstration that the Industrial Design specialty at BNTU is a space where creativity meets technology, and ideas take on real meaning. Many participants expressed their interest in pursuing this specialty, seeing it as an opportunity to realize their potential and contribute to the development of modern design and sustainable packaging.
