Cuba's Minister of Higher Education visited BNTU

Министр высшего образования Кубы посетил БНТУ

Today, October 13, the Belarusian National Technical University was visited by the Minister of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba, Walter Baluja García, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Belarus, Santiago Pérez Benítez, and the Director of the International Department of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba, María Victoria Villavicencio Plasencia.

A warm welcome was offered to the Cuban delegation. The guests were greeted by the "Kakhanachka" folk song ensemble of the BNTU Department of Culture and, as a tradition, were offered bread and salt.

As part of the visit, a tour of the exhibition of innovative developments at the BNTU Polytechnic Science and Technology Park was also organized. Georgy Vershina, the park's General Director, briefed the delegation on the park's research and cutting-edge products.

Following the tour, representatives of the Cuban Ministry participated in negotiations with representatives of BNTU: Rector Sergei Kharitonchik, Vice-Rector for Research Ksenia Yakushenko, and Dean of the Faculty of International Cooperation Pavel Shirvel.

During the talks, Sergei Kharitonchik presented information about BNTU's extensive activities. The rector noted that the country's leading technical university provides practice-oriented education using cutting-edge laboratory equipment and constantly updated curricula. Furthermore, he emphasized that BNTU operates on the principle of interaction between science, education, and commercialization.

Valter Baluja García, in turn, thanked Sergei Kharitonchik for his informative and useful presentation. The minister mentioned that Cuban higher education institutions wish to develop closer cooperation with the Belarusian Polytechnic University. According to the guest, this collaboration could focus on creating educational programs, organizing summer and winter schools for students, personnel exchanges, and research projects based at BNTU laboratories.

Following the talks, Walter Baluja García invited Sergei Kharitonchik and other BNTU staff to an international congress on higher education.

We wish both parties fruitful collaboration and successful projects!
