In accordance with the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Belarus, since 2021 our country has celebrated a new national holiday — the Day of National Unity. It is observed on September 17. The date is not accidental: it marks an act of historical justice toward the Belarusian people, who were divided against their will in 1921 under the terms of the Treaty of Riga, and it has become firmly rooted in the national historical tradition. The Red Army’s campaign into Western Belarus was of great significance for the Belarusian people, as the reunification of eastern and western territories within a single state laid the foundation for building a new life.
On the eve of the holiday, a nationwide event traditionally takes place — the writing of the Republican Dictation titled “Day of National Unity.” On September 16, 2025, students and faculty of the Belarusian National Technical University took part in this initiative. Around 160 students from different faculties participated in the dictation, the text of which was dedicated to the historical events that led to the reunification of Western and Eastern Belarus in 1939.
The dictation papers were reviewed by educators from the Department of Belarusian and Russian Languages of the Faculty of International Cooperation.
We express our gratitude to all participants of the Republican Dictation! Congratulations to the winners — the students who scored “9” or “10” points!
