A delegation from the Republic of South Africa visited BNTU

Today, July 17, a delegation from the Republic of South Africa visited the BNTU “Polytechnic” Science and Technology Park. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the activities of the Belarusian National Technical University and to hold negotiations on scientific and technical cooperation.

The delegation included Mr. Cecil Masoka, Acting Director General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation; Mr. Itumeleng Malokoi, Acting Director General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation; Mr. Ratipna Mabeba, an intern at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation; and Ms. Asanda Ntisana, a specialist in space and stakeholder engagement at the South African Space Agency.

The delegation was welcomed by BNTU Rector Sergey Kharitonchik; Vice-Rector for Research Ksenia Yakushenko; General Director of the BNTU “Polytechnic” Science and Technology Park, Georgy Vershina; Director of the BNTU branch “Research Polytechnic Institute,” Viktor Kusyak; Dean of the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering, Andrey Kologrivko; Professor of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Oleg Devoino; and Professor of the Instrument Engineering Faculty, Viktor Kisel.

As part of the visit, the delegation was given a guided tour of the exhibition at the BNTU “Polytechnic” Science and Technology Park. Georgy Vershina provided detailed explanations of each development and the technologies behind them.

This was followed by a presentation about the Belarusian National Technical University, delivered by Sergey Kharitonchik.

– Our university is over 100 years old. We are the only institution in the country awarded the Order of the President of the Republic of Belarus. Our work is based on the integration of education, science, and innovation. This is very important because we are a technical university and develop not only science but also education and the creation of production what we actually do.

Presentations were also delivered by Viktor Kisel on “Directions in Laser Systems and New Crystalline Materials,” Oleg Devoino on “Directions in Laser, Plasma, and Hybrid Technologies,” and Andrey Kologrivko, who spoke about the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering and the student training programs.

Next, the parties proceeded to discuss matters of scientific and technical cooperation.
