The ceremonial meeting of the XIX IInternational Athletics Student Run, takes place at BNTU

Торжественный митинг-встреча XIX Международного легкоатлетического студенческого пробега проходит в БНТУ

Today, May 8, on the site in front of the main building of BNTU, a meeting of the XIX IInternational Athletics Student Run, dedicated to Victory Day, is taking place.

For reference: The International Athletics Student Run has been organized as part of the implementation of the intergovernmental agreement between the Republic of Belarus and the Udmurt Republic since May 2003. It is aimed at patriotic education, popularization of athletics and a healthy lifestyle among the students of the two countries. In 2024, the run started in Izhevsk and runs along the route "Izhevsk – Nizhny Novgorod – Minsk – Nizhny Novgorod – Izhevsk".

The rector of BNTU Sergei Kharytonchyk addressed the participants of the meeting with a welcoming speech.

– Good afternoon, dear guests, employees, students! I am sincerely glad to welcome you all to our already traditional event, which we dedicate to Victory Day.

Many beautiful words have been said on Victory Day, many songs have been composed, but today I want to read out another statement dedicated to Victory Day, which was made by a respected professor of our university, Doctor of Historical Sciences, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences Vladimir Andreevich Bobkov. He described it this way: “Victory Day is like a mound of strength, spirit and glory of the victorious Soviet people, based on high moral principles.” It’s beautifully said, and it’s difficult to express it in any other way on this wonderful day about the Great Victory.

I appeal to our youth, our students, our countries of the Union State: take care of the Victory, take care of the memory of the Victory, continue the traditions of athletics runs.

I want to say thank you to our partners, who annually do everything to ensure that our athletics run takes place in places of military glory, so that young people touch the memory of those great events that took place on the way from Minsk to Izhevsk. I thank  Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R. E. Alekseev and Izhevsk State Technical University named after M. T. Kalashnikov. Well done! Thank you.

Dear friends, I sincerely congratulate you on Victory Day. I wish you all happiness, health and peaceful skies above your heads. I declare our meeting open!

As part of the meeting, a ceremonial handover of the run pennant took place; representatives of three universities laid flowers at the Stele of the employees and students of the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute who died during the Great Patriotic War and will soon go on an excursion to the historical and cultural complex “Stalin Line”.

Delegations of Izhevsk State Technical University named after. M. T. Kalashnikov and Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after. R. E. Alekseev arrived in Belarus on May 7 and met with representatives of BNTU at the memorial complex “Mound of Glory”. There, the guys managed to share their first impressions and expectations from the event.

Thus, Daniil from Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R. E. Alekseev took part in the XVIII IIInternational Athletics Student Run, which started on the territory of BNTU and ended in Izhevsk. This year the guy is sure that he will receive no less positive emotions.

– I am very glad that I am participating this year. This is an opportunity to meet again with the guys who participated last year, meet new ones and get a lot of impressions. A run is an event from which you always expect only good things, and I am sure that each of us will receive an incredible charge of positivity these days.

Ekaterina studies at Izhevsk State Technical University named after M. T. Kalashnikov and takes part in the race for the first time. The girl is determined to actively get to know both students from other universities and Belarusian culture.

– Of course, I’m looking forward to bright emotions and new acquaintances. I also really want to see all the beauties of Minsk and Belarusian culture. I think it will be truly unforgettable.

As already mentioned, today the guys will go on an excursion to the historical and cultural complex “Stalin Line”, and in the evening they will take part in the “MeloQuiz” from the BNTU Youth Union.
