BNTU – choice of the best: story 19

БНТУ – выбор лучших: история девятнадцатая

On the calendar, May 1 is Labor Day, and on this day we will meet Artem Filipchik, a first-year student of the automotive tractor faculty. The young man is majoring in “Internal Combustion Engines” and is a member of the student squad “Opora BNTU named after. Hero of the Soviet Union P. M. Masherov."

For reference: student teams (squads)  are one of the activities of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union. Students quads are divided into profiles: construction, agricultural, pedagogical, service, environmental, medical and production. “Opora BNTU named after. Hero of the Soviet Union P. M. Masherov." is one of the student squads, numbering 108 people. In this squad, students work as computer operators; their main task is to monitor equipment in educational buildings and troubleshoot technical problems.

As a child, Artem really wanted to become a racing driver. Surprisingly, he managed to keep his dream alive, so upon admission he consciously chose a specialty where he could develop some parts for cars. However, the issue of the column today is, one might say, thematic, so we will expand on the topic with the student squad.

– Why did you become a student squad fighter?

– Here you can find a job you like and make great acquaintances for life. I wanted to contribute to the work of our dean's office and help make it efficient, so I went to the “Opora BNTU”. As part of the team's activities, I help the dean's office to enter various kinds of information into the database, as well as maintain computers.

– Do you think the student brigade movement is popular now?

– Of course, it is, because students are always open to everything new, and the student movement is an opportunity for a student to discover previously unknown facets in himself. There are a lot of student groups at BNTU, and everyone can choose any direction and try themselves in it. Speaking of development, this movement gave me self-confidence: I became more open, sociable and even, one might say, matured.

Having become part of one of the areas of work of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, Artem became interested in the life of the Youth Union outside the Belarusian student squad, in which he participated very actively. Over this year, the young man took part in numerous promotions and events, not only as a participant, but also as an organizer. The guy admitted that one of the most interesting and large-scale events for him was the university stage of the “Student of the Year – 2023” competition, in the organization of which he took part.

– There is an expression “You need to get the most out of life.” What do you think should be done to get the most out of studying at BNTU?

– It's very simple. Here you can develop in several directions at once: participate in research projects and conferences, social life and attend sports clubs. Combining studies and social activities, of course, is not easy, but it is possible. The main thing is to remember that you came to the university in order to study. Looking back, I can say with confidence: if I had gone back in time and thought again about whether to enroll in the BNTU, the answer would have been positive.

We thank Artem for the interview and wish him further success in his social and educational activities.
