Today, June 30, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Turchin, on behalf of Head of State Alexander Lukashenko, presented state awards to employees in various fields.
Among those awarded the Certificate of Gratitude from the President of the Republic of Belarus was Colonel Igor Yankovsky, an employee of the Belarusian National Technical University and Deputy Head of Research and First Deputy Head of the Military Technical Faculty. This high recognition of his work is the result of many years of fruitful teaching and his significant personal contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.
According to Igor Yankovsky, the President's Commendation is not so much an assessment of the past as a guide to the future:
"The President's Commendation is recognition of achievements accumulated over a certain period of time, and at the same time an advance on future work aimed at developing the faculty and the university as a whole."
"What aspect of your many years of experience, in your opinion, played a decisive role in your work being recognized at such a high level?"
"The secret is simple: you need to conscientiously fulfill your responsibilities at every stage—from assistant in a department to deputy head of the faculty. I have always focused my efforts on training highly qualified specialists. And I have strived to be a role model for young people," the colonel shared.
Looking at the present day, Igor Yankovsky noted the faculty's dynamic growth, which is due to the entire staff." His assessment is especially compelling when it comes to the actual successes of the Faculty's students:
"Our graduates are respected specialists in the maintenance and repair of armored and special-purpose military vehicles. This is a credit to the entire faculty, our teachers, who cultivate young people through their hard work. The Faculty has transitioned to new curricula and is today a leader in military education, a model for teaching and methodological work and cadet training."
Behind the stern shoulder straps and official regalia lies a man for whom the most important thing is not rank, but the soul. When it comes to choosing between an officer, a scientist, and a teacher, Igor Nikolaevich unhesitatingly calls himself a teacher and explains why:
"The most important thing for me is to be a teacher. Officer and scientist are temporary statuses, but a teacher is always present. They must be competent not only in weapons and military equipment, but also in the physical processes that occur within the mechanisms, in order to help the student understand complex subjects." The most important thing is to teach people to love their homeland, understand global trends, and distinguish truth from lies in the information flow. And, of course, to remain human, a citizen of the Republic of Belarus, a patriot, and a defender of the Fatherland.
