Today, June 29, a cooperation agreement was signed at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus as part of the scientific and practical roundtable discussion "The Genocide of the Belarusian People during the Great Patriotic War: Historical and Legal Assessment." The Scientific and Practical Center for Strengthening Law and Order of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Belarus and the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) signed a cooperation agreement. BNTU was represented at the event by BNTU Rector Sergei Kharitonchik, Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work Timur Matyushinetz, and Chair of the BNTU Student Editorial Board, a student of the Instrument Engineering Faculty, Elizaveta Khulup.
The roundtable participants were given a tour of the archive, which houses a collection of documents on the history of the Great Patriotic War. After the tour, they joined the roundtable discussion and discussion of current issues.
The agreement was signed by Igor Moroz, Director of the Scientific and Practical Center for Strengthening Law and Order at the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Belarus, and Sergei Kharitonchik, Rector of the Belarusian National Technical University. The parties confirmed their mutual interest in developing long-term relations aimed at preserving historical memory and truth and engaging young students in research, information, and educational activities.
"No matter how many roundtables we hold, this topic will always be relevant. And for those times when we don't want history to repeat itself. Sometimes young people think it's like watching an action movie, like playing around. In fact, the lessons we're learning are very terrifying, and we must do everything we can to prevent them. A big thank you to all the organizers of the roundtable for holding it at the National Archives. The tour was impressive. You're truly immersed in the spirit of that time, reading the documents as if it were today, and those people are right there with you." "We truly need to study the documents and work to ensure that history does not repeat itself in this horrific form," noted Sergei Kharitonchik.
The agreement provides for the joint development of information projects with the participation of representatives of government agencies and institutions, the development of students' creative initiatives, and their involvement in addressing issues at the national level.
"The signing of the agreement opens a new stage for BNTU. The Student Council has long been working on educational projects, but now we have an official partner. For us students, it is especially valuable that we will be able to prepare joint materials with legal experts, delve deeper into documents and facts, and, most importantly, participate in preserving historical truth," shared Elizaveta Khulup.
We are confident that this joint work will be an important step in raising a worthy generation.
