The BNTU team took part in a peat football tournament.

Команда БНТУ приняла участие в турнире по торфяному футболу

The 8th National Peat Football Tournament, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Belarusian Energy System, was held on June 20, 2026, in the village of Pravdinsky, Pukhovichi District, at the Sergeevichskoye Peat Briquette Plant branch of the Mingaz State Unitary Enterprise. Twenty-seven teams from Belarus and one from Russia (St. Petersburg) participated in the tournament. The first tournament took place in 2016 at the Usyazh TBC (director Petr Fedorovich Slerarchik).
The competition regulations for the first stage stipulated games in six subgroups on very wet peat pitches measuring 20 by 30 meters. Each half lasted 7 minutes of net time. The subsequent stages were played using the Olympic elimination system. Teams consisted of five outfield players and a goalkeeper. One important feature was the mandatory participation of one girl per team in each game. A team of students from the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering and the Faculty of Power Engineering of the Belarusian National Technical University took to the peat football pitches: Konstantin Chechko, Dmitry Linichenko, Arseniy Krivenkiy, Nikolay Sviridchuk, Alexey Staritsky, Polina Brantsevich, Yegor Salash, Yegor Kovsh, Nikita Podolyak, Konstantin Dobrovolsky, and Artyom Burmak, along with their supervisors: Senior Lecturer Grigory Antonovich Basalai and Laboratory Head Oleg Vladimirovich Gabrinovich. Dean of the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering A.A. Kologrivko came to support the team.
The peat football tournament is not only an exciting competition but also an opportunity to network with colleagues and meet like-minded individuals. The Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering was at the forefront of peat engineering in Belarus. Its graduates include many managers of relevant peat industry companies. It was a great honor to compete against worthy opponents. It was a true celebration. Peat industry representatives have always distinguished themselves by their ability to work hard and deliver results.
Ultimately, the Minsk Tractor Plant team won the tournament. Second place went to the Russian team St. Petersburg Lakes. Third place went to the Brestoblgaz team.
