Every year, on the last Sunday of January, Belarusian Science Day is celebrated in our country. New medicines, modernization, information security and biotechnologies – the developments of our scientists cover the entire spectrum of the economy, starting from agriculture and ending even with space. The talk show "Dots over I" talked about what tasks Belarusian science faces, how they are solved and what achievements our domestic minds can boast of.
Mikhail Svito, talk show host:
Do you think that for young inventors, technoparks are really a very good start for some new achievements, inventions of their kind?
Georgy Vershina, Director of the Scientific and Technology Park of BNTU "Polytechnic" :
Certainly. Technology parks themselves have an innovation fund. Each resident, in accordance with the law, a certain amount of profit goes to the investment fund. Based on this investment fund, grants can be announced. These grants can be fulfilled by young people. For example, the BNTU Technopark has a creative workshop of architects who create unique things – this is a good example. I will even add: almost one third of undergraduates do internships at the technopark who will then be enrolled at BNTU - a fairly large indicator. Students come to real graduation projects. This is the future of science. Naturally, they are immediately selected. Today, for example, for me as the Director, I am interested in the development of all projects. There are more than 150 products and exports. This year we have earned 1 million 100 thousand dollars on the export of our products and services – this is a good indicator.
