The complication of the power supply system and the construction of new enterprises in the republic, their equipping with complex electrical equipment, the introduction of new electrical technologies, the organization of departments of the chief power engineer at the enterprises required the training of engineering personnel of the corresponding specialty. As a result, in 1951 a new specialty "Electrification of industrial enterprises" is opened at the faculty. In 1970, the graduating department "Power Supply of Industrial Enterprises, Cities and Agriculture" was created in order to train electrical engineers to work mainly at industrial enterprises. After some time, the department receives the name "Power Supply". The great need of the national economy for power engineers of the specialty "Power Supply" led to a significant release of specialists over the years of the department. Every year the department graduates about 150 full-time and part-time specialists. Over 400 foreign citizens from Eastern European countries (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, East Germany), Asia, Central and South America, Africa have received engineering training at the department. In order to enhance cognitive interest, considerable attention is paid to the organization of individual work with students. Within the framework of training sessions, the forms of such work are individual tasks, preparation of reports and scientific reports. Students take an active part in the annual scientific and technical conferences and participate in the Republican competition of student research papers, while the departmental student papers, as a rule, are awarded with diplomas of various degrees.
