Today, July 6, the Belarusian National Technical University hosted a delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe in Belarus. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ignatius Mudzimba and Deputy Head of Mission Kanisio Tanyanyiwa participated in the meeting. BNTU was represented by Rector Sergei Kharitonchik, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Yuri Nikolaychik, and Dean of the Faculty of International Cooperation Pavel Shirvel.
Sergei Kharitonchik welcomed the guests and expressed hope for intensified collaboration. He also outlined plans to send 14 BNTU students for an internship at the Harare University of Technology.
"Currently, more than 50 Zimbabwean citizens are studying at BNTU, and we intend to strengthen this collaboration." I am delighted that our students are also planning to visit your country. Previous visits by BNTU staff to Zimbabwe have demonstrated the high potential for cooperation. Furthermore, collaboration with our science and technology park is actively developing, focusing on the production of high-tech medical products. We have been taking these steps since 2023 and are seeing our relations rapidly developing. Today's delegation's visit is further confirmation that we will only strengthen our ties. It is important for us to understand where we need to strengthen our collaboration, as today we need not only innovative products but also new engineering and technical personnel capable of optimizing the economies of our countries," the rector emphasized.
In turn, Yuri Nikolaychik spoke in detail about the university's structure, educational programs offered in Russian and English, and the cutting-edge developments of the BNTU technology park, including in the field of medical devices.
The ambassador thanked BNTU's leadership for the high-quality education Zimbabwean students receive at the university. He emphasized that training qualified personnel directly impacts the country's economic development and expressed his willingness to engage in further cooperation. Furthermore, Ignatius Mudzimba expressed interest in giving a lecture to students at the Harare University of Technology on the cutting-edge developments of the Belarusian National Technical University's Polytechnic Science and Technology Park.
Following the meeting, the parties outlined areas for further cooperation, including joint educational programs and strengthening the partnership between the two countries. The visit of the Zimbabwean delegation marked another step in the development of BNTU's international cooperation and confirmed the growing interest in Belarusian engineering education.
