Today, on May 22, the BNTU hosted the final of one of the most spectacular sports events at the Polytechnic University — the streetball tournament. The event was organized by the primary trade union organization of the university's students.
For your information, streetball is a variation of classic basketball in which teams play against each other outdoors or in a gym. The main difference lies in the format of the match: it is played in a 3-on-3 format, and the athletes use only half of the standard playing field with a single hoop.
This year, 16 teams, including national and faculty teams, competed for the main prize. With each passing year, the level of participating teams has only increased, making the final a thrilling and exciting event. The guys conquered the sports field, demonstrating excellent physical fitness and perseverance. The event was officiated by the chief referee Bogdan Kuprin and the referee panel consisting of Daniil Mitskevich and Nikita Urban.
— The basketball community at BNTU is very well-developed. There are many students on each faculty who follow student basketball and other sports. The level of competition, like in other sports, changes with each generation of students. Basketball remains one of the most stable sports in this regard. This is thanks to the captains of the faculties, who maintain the continuity of their teams' generations. I am glad that during my years of study, I have become one of the guys who promote one of the most popular sports, — said Bogdan Kuprin.
According to the results of the tournament, the winners were:
the free throw contest — Roman Mirolevich;
the three-point contest — Yaramir Dashkevich;
MVP of the final — Yaramir Dashkevich;
the best defensive player — Artem Lisitsky;
The best forward player is Ilya Miloshevsky.
The top three teams are as follows:
1st place — Secret Victory;
2nd place — Not a team;
3rd place — High School.
