The 82nd Student Scientific and Technical Conference was held at the Faculty of Civil Engineering

On May 14, 2026, the 82nd Student Scientific and Technical Conference "Current Issues in Geotechnics, Ecology, Population Protection in Emergencies, Structural Mechanics, and Information Technology" was held at the BNTU Polytechnic Science and Technology Park. The conference featured sections on "Geotechnics and Structural Mechanics," "Engineering and Economics: Current Status and Development Prospects," "Economics, Construction Organization, and Real Estate Management," "Modern Methods of Calculating and Inspecting Reinforced Concrete and Masonry Structures," and "Building Structures Named After Doctor of Engineering, Professor T. M. Petzold." Approximately 120 undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students from the faculties of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Transport Communications, Energy Engineering, Mining, and Environmental Engineering participated in the event, presenting 68 papers, along with 10 faculty members.

For reference: The 82nd student scientific and technical conference at the Faculty of Civil Engineering was held as part of the international youth forum "Creativity and Innovation – 2026."

The "Geotechnics and Structural Mechanics" section covered the following topics:

• Engineering geology and modern survey methods;
• Modern developments in soil mechanics and foundation engineering;
• Green construction and environmental protection;
• Population protection during man-made and natural disasters;
• Structural mechanics;
• Information technology.

Tamara Ulasik, Head of the Department of Geotechnics and Structural Mechanics, opened the section with opening remarks.

Each participant was given 5 minutes to present, and other participants and jury members could ask questions. The jury members who evaluated the presentations included:

• Tamara Ulasik, Head of the Geotechnical and Structural Mechanics Department;
• Igor Boyko, Associate Professor of the Department;
• Vyacheslav Myakota, Senior Lecturer of the Department;
• Yulia Erokhina, Senior Lecturer of the Department;
• Svetlana Goncharova, Senior Lecturer of the Department;
• Leonty Medvedev, Assistant Professor of the Department.

In the Geotechnics and Structural Mechanics section, six papers (based on the number of topics) received certificates for the best paper:

• "The Importance of National Nature Reserves in the Belarusian Nature Conservation System: The Case of the Kotra Landscape Reserve" by Polina Vilkevich (supervised by Tamara Ulasik);
• "The Carbon Footprint of Artificial Intelligence: A Strategy for Reducing Environmental Impact" by Dmitry Beresnev, Anastasia Velichko, and Darina Gornostaeva (supervised by Tamara Ulasik);
• "Weak Water-Saturated and Peaty Soils of Belarus as Foundation Bases" by Alexandra Navrotskaya (supervised by Igor Boyko);
• "The Impact of Finite Element Mesh Discretization on the Accuracy of Slab Bending Calculations. A Study of Deformations of a Ribbed Ventilation Duct Panel" by Artem Shevelev and Ksenia Parfenkova (supervised by Olga Verbitskaya);
• "Virtual Reality in Construction" by Olga Kinchak (supervised by Alexander Strelyukhin);
• "Basic Principles of Radioactive Waste Management in the Republic of Belarus" by Renat Ibragimov (supervised by Yulia Erokhina).

All conference participants will receive certificates of participation.
