On March 5, 2026, a spiritual and educational meeting of students with Priest Sergei Faley was held in the dormitory № 8 of the Faculty of Instrument-Making. The event was dedicated to the period of Lent - one of the most important times of the church year.
Father Sergei spoke in detail about the meaning of fasting in the Orthodox tradition:
- Fasting is not just a restriction in food, but a holistic spiritual feat that includes two inseparable aspects: bodily fasting - abstinence from certain food, helping to develop self-control, and spiritual fasting - rejection of evil thoughts, condemnation, anger, lies, - the priest emphasized.
Father Sergiy reminded that the Great Lent lasts 47 days and is a spiritual preparation for the bright holiday of the Resurrection of Christ - Easter. This time serves for inner purification, reconciliation with others.
Special attention was paid to the power of the word. The priest explained that words have energy: kind, sincere, encouraging speeches carry light energy, while slander, gossip and rudeness generate darkness.
- When a person pronounces evil, he does not just hurt another - he himself becomes infected with a spiritual disease, because sin acts as poison for the soul.
At the end of the meeting, Father Sergei focused on two central symbols of the Orthodox faith - the Holy Gospel and the Life-giving Cross.
Such meetings are a valuable opportunity for students to find answers to eternal questions and strengthen moral guidelines.
