The meeting with the Minister of Information of the Republic of Belarus Marat Markov took place at the BNTU

Встреча с министром информации Республики Беларусь Маратом Марковым состоялась в БНТУ

Today, on December 24, a dialogue meeting was held with the Minister of Information of the Republic of Belarus Marat Markov.

Sergey Kharitonchik, Rector of the Belarusian National Technical University, made a welcoming speech. He noted that Marat Sergeevich was a long-awaited guest at the Polytechnic. The Rector also stressed the importance of an open dialogue between government officials and the future generation of specialists.

During the meeting, Marat Markov discussed the upcoming election campaign with the audience, providing historical facts and statistical data illustrating the key stages of the electoral process in Belarus.

– We need to learn from everything. Because of my profession, I have to communicate with people a lot, so 90% of the people I talked to on the topic of "change" do not know what is behind this word. People should at least think for themselves a little bit," the speaker emphasized.

The meeting also touched upon the acute topic of information security in the era of artificial intelligence.

– Now, according to statistics, 53% of crimes are fraud using technology and artificial intelligence, – commented Marat Markov.

Using vivid examples of deep fakes, Marat Sergeevich vividly demonstrated the threats posed by fake news and fraudulent schemes, urging the audience to information literacy and critical perception of information.

The meeting was characterized by a lively and interesting atmosphere. Students and teachers actively participated in the discussion, asking questions.

– Your first profession is military. How did you choose this profession and how did it affect your life?  – Vladislav, a student of the military technical faculty, asked.

– I was not just a military man, but a military engineer. When I was 17, I had 100 people under my command. This profession has radically changed my thinking and my life," replied Marat Sergeevich.

The next question was asked by Elizaveta, a student of the Faculty of Instrument Engineering.

– Based on the topics discussed on the dialogue platform, how does the Ministry of Information plan to combat disinformation on social media?

– There are several ways to combat disinformation, but the best way is to limit the use of social networks, that is, to ban them altogether. But we can't do that. Now the Ministry of Information is blocking accounts and channels that do not comply with regulatory legal acts," commented Marat Markov.

We would like to thank Marat Sergeevich for his attention and valuable information, which is useful both for understanding the upcoming elections and for forming a professional view of the media space.
