Today, on October 22, a series of festive events dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology of the BNTU started. Among them are the opening of the robotics tournament , a meeting of the management board of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology and negotiations between the Belarusian National Technical University and Northeastern University (NEU).
For reference: the grand opening of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology took place on October 21, 2014. BNTU's partner in the creation of the Confucius Institute is Northeastern University, one of the leading universities in China, founded in 1923.
The first event was the opening of the I International Robot Tournament – the Confucius Institute Cup for Science and Technology. The opening ceremony was attended by:
Sergey Kharitonchik made a welcoming speech. He noted the relevance of the chosen direction and wished success to the teams.
– Robot Tournament – this is a new, rather dynamically developing area all over the world and the main participants here are young people.We know how strong the teams of our countries are, and that's why we decided to make the tournament international.Today we will have teams from Belarus, China and Russia competing and I want to wish each of them a successful competition.
The rector of Northeastern University, Feng Xiaoning, pays attention to the diversity and versatility of the created platform for the exchange of experience.
– Today we are gathered here to witness together the perfect combination of science and education.It is not only a technology competition and an exchange of wisdom, but also a platform for demonstrating innovative achievements and sharing experiences. Here, students will talk in a common language – robotics.They will be able to exchange ideas and experiences, jointly contributing to scientific progress. We are confident that such competitions contribute to the increase of youth scientific staff in different countries, inspire students to study technology, develop their innovative thinking and practical skills. I wish all participants to demonstrate the talents of modern students and achieve outstanding results.

The winner who will be the strongest and who exactly will take the cup of the competition will be announced at the awarding ceremony, which will take place tomorrow, at a festive concert.
The Management council of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology was held at which the NEU delegation and representatives of BNTU discussed the activities of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology over 10 years and development plans for the future. Following the event, a protocol of the management Council and a protocol of intent were signed between the Belarusian National Technical University and Northeastern University.
In addition, negotiations between BNTU and NEU took place today. The interests of the Belarusian party were represented by Rector Sergey Kharitonchik , First Deputy rector Andrei Safonov, Deputy Rector for Educational Work of BNTU Timur Matiushinets, Deputy Rector for Academic Affairs of BNTU Yuri Nikolaychik, Deputy Rector for Research Ksenia Yakushenko, General Director of the BNTU Polytechnic Scientific and Technological Park Georgy Vershina, Dean of the International Cooperation Faculty of BNTU Pavel Shirvel and Director of the Confucius Institute for science and technology of the Belarusian National Technical University Vladimir Kleenkov.
The main topics for discussion were the creation and functioning of the Faculty of Chinese Technologies, the organization of educational, scientific and innovative activities, summer schools for students of BNTU and NEU, as well as the demonstration of projects for the building of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology on the basis of the Lyceum of BNTU.
A significant event was the awarding of the title of "Honorary Professor of BNTU" to the rector of NEU Feng Xiatin. The rector of BNTU Sergey Kharitonchik awarded Mr. Feng with a badge and a certificate, and also presented him with a commemorative jacket of BNTU.
