Today, 27 September, the XIII Forum of Higher Education Institutions of Engineering and Technology of the Union State completes its work. Representatives of BNTU took an active part in the events.
For reference: The XIII Forum of Higher Education Institutions of Engineering and Technology of the Union State is held for the 13th time, but for the first time on the territory of the Russian Federation. Earlier the venue was BNTU, this year the honour is given to R. E. Alekseev Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University (R. E. Alekseev NSTU). The event is organised with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Standing Committee of the Union State.
The delegation of the Belarusian National Technical University included First Vice-Rector Andrei Safonov, General Director of the BNTU Scientific and Technological Park ‘Polytechnic’ Georgy Vershina, Head of the Department of International Programmes, Exchanges and Protocol Anastasia Volkova, Dean of the Instrument Engineering Faculty Alexander Svistun, Dean of the Energy Faculty Evgeny Ponomarenko, Dean of the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering Andrei Kologrivko, Dean of the Automotive Faculty Sergei Skirkovsky, Deputy Dean for Ideology, and Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Environmental Engineering Sergey Skirkovsky, Elena Kostyukevich, Deputy Dean for Ideological and Educational Work of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Valentina Kuzmich, responsible for educational and methodical work of the Faculty of Mining and Engineering Ecology, as well as students.
Andrei Safonov noted the significance and impact of the event at the opening of the forum.
- Every year the Union State Forum gains more and more value and impact. It is important that participants actively share their knowledge and discoveries, which is especially relevant in a rapidly changing world where innovation plays a key role in economic development. Joint projects in science and education can become the basis for the creation of new technologies and methods that will be in demand in the labour market.
After the solemn opening of the forum the work began in five sections on the directions of scientific, technical and innovative activities, development of engineering education, youth innovative entrepreneurship, engineering career and youth policy.
Konstantin Mordvintsev, a member of the delegation, a student of the BNTU Faculty of Energy, noted the productivity and comfortable work at his section.
- The process of work at our section included both lecture part and practical work with speakers. It was pleasant that the coaches assigned to us answered our questions thoroughly and helped us in preparing the project.
Furthermore, an important part of the forum's work was the competition of youth innovation projects - the business battle ‘The Best Youth Startup of the Union State’. At it, the teams presented their innovative projects, among which the jury members selected the best ones.
The project ‘Technology and equipment for roof control in longwall faces in the development of reservoir deposits’, which was prepared by students of the Faculty of Mining and Engineering Ecology of BNTU, in 2024 took the first place.
- The project is intended to design a specialised module that will ensure safe mining operations, reduce costs and eliminate blasting operations in mines, - emphasised the team captain, student Nikita Katok.
Among the significant decisions of the XIII Forum of Higher Education Institutions of Engineering and Technology of the Union State is the forthcoming creation of an inter-university platform for integration cooperation in the development of education, science and technology, which was discussed at the forum session. The work will be carried out within the framework of the Strategy of Scientific and Technological Development of the Union State for the period up to 2035.
The XIII Forum of Higher Education Institutions of Engineering and Technology of the Union State has come to an end and its outcome was new agreements, contacts and research initiatives. During the year we will be able to monitor their implementation, and at the next Forum of Higher Education Institutions we will be able to discuss the results and outline new plans.
