Not all books are for all people. We read for different reasons.

Today, on March 14, the XXXI Minsk International Book Fair started working at the “BelExpo” exhibition center. One of the exhibitors traditionally is the Belarusian National Technical University.
For reference: The International Book Fair has been held since 1994. It is organized by the Ministry of information of the Republic of Belarus together with the Ministries of Education, Foreign Affairs, Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the Minsk City Executive Committee and the Union of Writers of Belarus.
In the modern world it is difficult to overestimate the importance of books. They are a source of knowledge, a faithful friend and even a guide to many worlds. In Belarus the popularity of printed publications are confirmed by statistics: 7842 books and brochures with a total circulation of over 19.7 million copies were published in the republic in 2023. Accordingly, the interest in the book fair is justified.
Opening the event, First Deputy Head of the Administration of the President Maksim Ryzhenkov said that "every year this event expands the horizons of book publishing and allows us to plunge into new thoughts, new approaches of truly responsible authors from Belarus and friends from abroad."
The main themes of the exhibition in 2024 are the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders, the 30th anniversary of the adopt of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, the Year of Quality and anniversaries of classics of Belarusian literature. Thematic events helped to reveal each one.
As we have already mentioned, the Belarusian National Technical University is also an exhibitor of the exhibition and is present with a booth of the editorial and publishing department of the university. Here visitors can find issues of scientific journals, career guidance materials and the works of teachers published in 2023. For applicants university staff provide career guidance and talk about education and the cultural life of the university.
BNTU students also didn’t stand aside. Some of them were involved as volunteers at the event. In turn, students of the International Cooperation Faculty represented their countries at the booth of multinational cultures.
In addition Belarusian-Russian methodological seminar was held as part of the business program of the exhibition "Media Literacy in the context of library activities", organized by the Belarusian National Technical University, the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian Library Association and the Association of Media Education Specialists (Russia).Inna Yurik, Director of the BNTU Scientific Library ("Formation of skills in working with media texts among students") and Deputy Director Yulia Sobolevskaya ("Consolidation of libraries for the formation of media literacy of users under the auspices of the BLA: opportunities and prospects") read their reports at the event.
The program includes more than 40 events, among them are presentations, discussions and creative meetings with the participation of Russian and Belarusian writers. We recommend that you personally visit the exhibition and its events.
