The repository of the Belarusian National Technical University has improved its position in the world ranking of repositories “Transparent Ranking of Repositories” from the 16th edition for March 2024.
In the general list (all repositories), including 4636 repositories, electronic archives and electronic libraries, the BNTU repository rose to 28th place, in the list of institutional repositories and to the 18th place among 4491 other resources. Thus, compared to the version of the rating for February 2023, the BNTU repository rose by two positions in the global list (all repositories) and by one in the institutional (institutional repositories) in the lists of the Transparent Ranking of Repositories.
The Ranking “Transparent Ranking of Repositories”, like the “Webometrics Ranking of World Universities", is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab research group. Its methodology is based on an indicator of the number of documents posted in open access repositories and indexed by Google Scholar. In this way, the degree of openness of academic resources and their integration into the information space is assessed. The BNTU repository has been generated since 2012.Currently, it includes more than 118,778 documents: monographs, teaching aids, electronic educational and methodological complexes, textbooks, scientific articles, research reports, dissertation abstracts, dissertations, patents, conference materials, graphic works, contest and exhibition projects and etc.
It should be noted that the higher a repository's position in the ranking is, the larger the performance gap becomes (compared to higher positions). Only through the cooperation of all structural divisions of the university can we achieve growth and subsequently maintain such a high position. In this regard, we urge structural units (from departments and faculties to institutes) to analyze the documents available in the repository and transfer missing and new ones to our repository (this could be graphic works, contest and exhibition projects, data, etc.).
