Today, June 27, the admissions campaign kicked off across the country. The first to submit applications were those who had signed contracts with companies that were hiring personnel.
From early morning, the corridors and classrooms of the main building of the Belarusian National Technical University were filled with applicants with folders of documents, anxious parents, and admissions office staff ready to assist at every stage. The process was clearly organized: registration, verification of certificates, verification of contracts with companies. An atmosphere of anticipation permeated the hallway – some were nervous, others confidently filled out forms, but everyone was united by one thing: the understanding that today marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
BNTU First Vice-Rector Andrey Safonov personally congratulated those who bravely chose targeted training and presented them with commemorative gifts from the university.
"Today, both throughout the republic and at the country's leading technical university, the application process began. It began with applicants applying through targeted recruitment. These are the most motivated group of applicants, as they clearly understand the type of enterprise awaiting them in the future and the profession they will attain. This is invaluable, as they understand the range of tasks and competencies they need to acquire. This year, BNTU offers 510 places for targeted training. These places were awarded by 157 enterprises in 30 specialties. For comparison, last year we accepted approximately 400 targeted applicants, and this number is increasing every year, demonstrating the demand for this type of education." This is essential not only for applicants, but also for the company and the country as a whole. Regarding new specializations, I want to emphasize: we are constantly updating them across all fields. To say that some specializations are outdated is completely wrong. Each of them—be it automotive, tractor, or mechanical engineering—uses modern technologies in education: digital, information, and technological. Therefore, it's safe to say that all of our specializations are, in essence, new. I'd like to specifically mention the specialization "Road Construction and Hoisting-and-Transport Machines and Equipment. Hoisting-and-Transport Machines, Elevators, Continuous Transport Machines." It is designed to train specialists in elevator manufacturing. The Republic of Belarus has leading companies in this field—the Mogilev Elevator Plant and Amkodor OJSC, which produces road construction equipment. We train specialists in these fields as well. I'd like to clarify that training hasn't started from scratch; it's just that the current emphasis is more on design competencies, rather than solely on maintenance and operational skills. "The graduate's qualification is an engineer," Andrey Safonov shared.
The first applicant to apply for targeted training at BNTU was Anastasia Smolik. She chose the architecture department and has already signed a contract with MAPID. She admitted that the targeted placement gives her confidence in her future job:
"I decided to apply for targeted training at BNTU to major in architecture. This is because they provide an excellent education. I believe the faculty at this university will be able to provide me with all the knowledge I need for my future career. For me, the targeted placement gives me the confidence that I'll end up in the right place for me, where I want to develop. I'll be working at MAPID, and I really like this company. I hope I'll be accepted: I worked hard, prepared, and took courses from BNTU—I think everything will work out."
Ivan Akhremchuk also chose targeted training at BNTU. A young man applied for the new "Highways and Airfields" major in "Transport Communications Construction" at the Faculty of Transport Communications. His choice of major was largely determined by his father's work, which had fascinated him since childhood.
"I consciously decided to apply for the targeted program; I made the decision myself, and my parents supported me. My father influenced my choice of program: he worked in highways, and I'd seen his work since childhood. It always appealed to me, so I chose this program. Right now, as I've submitted my documents, I feel joy, as a new chapter in my life is beginning. I'm from Rechitsa, and I think I'll enjoy living in Minsk and studying in a big city. It feels great. And for those who are still applying, I want to wish them peace of mind, so they don't worry and can rest assured that everything will go well," Ivan explained his choice.
One applicant chose a company to work with at a career guidance fair, and the main advantages of targeted training for him were the internship and guaranteed employment after graduation.
"I chose BNTU and majored in engineering power engineering and energy conservation. I found the company we signed a contract with at the "Education and Career" career guidance fair at the BelExpo Exhibition Center. I've already visited the company itself: I really liked it, and was most impressed by the equipment. For me, targeted training is all about internships: both the internship during my studies and the guaranteed employment after graduation. I'm currently experiencing only positive emotions, and I hope that student life will be memorable and I'll enjoy everything," shared Andrey Pomelov, an applicant on targeted training.
Getting a higher education at the country's leading technical university is becoming a choice for gold medal graduates. Among such graduates is Alexander Galushko: a medalist who applied for the "Power Supply" specialization in "Electric Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering" at the Faculty of Power Engineering. Alexander admitted that the targeted program offered him the opportunity to enroll in his dream program:
"I was able to maintain a high academic standard thanks to my goal—I wanted to enroll at BNTU, one of the best universities in the country. I chose the Faculty of Power Engineering because I'm attracted to electronics and energy. I chose the targeted program deliberately: the competition for state-funded programs is high, and the targeted program offers a better chance of getting into the department I was aiming for. I've already visited Minskenergo, and I was most impressed by the qualified specialists who work there. My hope for student life is to receive a good education and become a professional like myself. And to today's students, I want to say: don't be afraid to make decisions, try to apply, and if it doesn't work out, don't be upset; find something you enjoy doing."
The first day is over, but the 2026 admissions campaign continues. BNTU welcomes its future students – those who are ready to build a career from their first year and know today where they will work tomorrow.
