Today, May 12, a lecture by Egyptian professor Adel Nofal was held at BNTU.
Note: Adel Nofal is a world-renowned scientist, a leading expert in alloyed and specialty cast irons, and a two-time laureate of the State Prize of the Arab Republic of Egypt. He is also the president of the Egyptian Foundry Association, chairman of the Permanent Scientific Committee for Materials Science and Engineering in Egypt, and the coordinator of the African Foundry Association.
The distinguished guest's educational course began on May 8. The program is designed specifically for students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, graduate students, and faculty from relevant departments. At today's meeting, attendees examined in detail the diagnosis, causes, and prevention of porosity defects in iron castings.
The final lecture of this course will take place tomorrow, May 13. The final lesson focuses on cast iron as a new, advanced material, drawing on case studies from the Central Research and Development Institute of Metallurgy.
All knowledge gained during the lectures will be integrated into the curriculum from September 2026 to March 2027. This knowledge will contribute to the improvement of such disciplines as "Theory and Technology of Foundry Production," "Special Types of Casting," and "Metal Science and Heat Treatment of Casting Alloys." Furthermore, the unique course materials will provide an excellent foundation for conducting serious research as part of master's and PhD theses in the specialty "Foundry Production."
