Today, April 30, restoration work on military grave No. 4830 and landscaping of the surrounding area in the village of Zagvazdino was completed. The event was organized at the initiative of the volunteer center of the Belarusian National Technical University.
Vitaly Adamovich, Deputy Head of the Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs and Head of the Department of Ideological Work and Crime Prevention; Alexander Kishko, a 4th-category mason in the Capital Repairs Department; and students from the Faculty of Transport Communications, the Faculty of International Cooperation, and the Faculty of Architecture participated in the memorial's restoration.
The participants paid close attention to every corner of the memorial: they laid tiles, straightened and partially repaired the monument, and cleaned the area around the monument.
Architecture student Viktor Vysotsky noted that the work was difficult, but none of the students stopped.
"I was glad to contribute to the memorial's improvement along with the others." I attached great spiritual significance to this, because we all understand the heroic deeds of our ancestors, the heroes who enabled us to live under a peaceful sky and rejoice. When we first arrived, we saw a lot of work ahead, but we didn't despair and worked as a team, relying on each other. Every day got better, the project from the shapeless earth took shape, and as the weather improved, so did our spirits. I would advise my friends, classmates, and fellow students to join such projects in the future, because it's truly important, and we should be proud of the heroes of that time," the young man emphasized.
The students accomplished a great job, gaining invaluable experience and practical training, as Alexander Kishko explained:
"It was very challenging. The students were great, they worked very hard. They worked so hard that by evening, they couldn't even drag their legs along. Their work can be compared to the work of an excavator – just as diligent and high-quality." During this short period of time, the students gained practical training, invaluable experience, and a different work ethic, which is crucial for future engineers.
Holding such an event aligns with key aspects of the national patriotic campaign "Let's Keep Their Feat in the Memory of Descendants," which is ongoing in Belarus. The main goal of the campaign is to preserve the historical memory of the Soviet people's heroism during the Great Patriotic War and to instill in the younger generation patriotic qualities and a respectful attitude toward the defenders of the Fatherland.
We thank the students and staff of BNTU for their compassion and respect for the heroism of their ancestors. It is in such good deeds that the eternal memory of those who gave us peace lives on.
