"Student Bridge" connected BNTU and GGTU named after P.O. Sukhoi

«Студенческий мост» соединил БНТУ и ГГТУ имени П. О. Сухого

From April 28 to 29, the Belarusian National Technical University hosted a delegation from the Gomel State Technical University named after P.O. Sukhoi. The visit took place as part of the implementation of the national project "Student Bridge: Youth Mobility as a Tool for Developing Partnerships and Sharing Ideas and Innovations".

During the two-day visit, students from the Gomel University got acquainted with the infrastructure, scientific developments, and social life of BNTU. The program of the visit included both technical and educational aspects.

On the first day, the guests were welcomed by Timur Matyushinets, Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work at BNTU.

“I am glad to welcome you in Minsk, within the walls of our university. Our university has a rich history, and 25,000 students study here. We organize many international projects, and tomorrow, the students from the youth organizations will tell you more about them. I am sure that you will be happy to participate in the exchange of experience. We have prepared a rich program for you, including a tour of the Government House,” the vice-rector said to the delegation.

After that, the participants visited the Polytechnic Research and Technology Park at BNTU. They were introduced to the advanced technologies and developments of the technopark. The guests also visited the Center for Technical Hydromechanics and Hydraulic Machines at BNTU, where they were shown the operation of hydraulic systems and the scientific capabilities of the center.

“The specialists explained the presented systems in a clear and detailed manner, and demonstrated the principles of operation of the equipment. Even as humanities students, we were able to understand everything. I would also like to highlight the impressive scale of the university's infrastructure, as it feels like a city within a city,” said Anna Shtanenko, a second-year student at the Faculty of Humanities and Economics at GGTU.

The project participants also took part in guided tours of the exhibition dedicated to the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War and the post-war period, and the exhibition “The History of the Great Patriotic War in Faces”.

Today, on April 29, the program of the visit continued. A tour of the House of the Government of the Republic of Belarus was organized for the delegation of the GGTU. The project participants visited the House of Representatives of the National Assembly and the Central Election Commission. The students visited the round hall of the House of Representatives, met with the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Vadim Ipatov, and took part in the opening of the exhibition “Women who created the era”. During the visit to the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus, the Head of the Department of Organizational, Financial Work and International Cooperation of the CEC Office Sergey Shmarlovsky spoke to the participants. As part of the tour, the students visited the CEC meeting room.

The final event of the visit was a round table with the participation of representatives of BNTU led by Vice-Rector Timur Matyushinets and the delegation of GGTU. Polytechnic students spoke about their youth initiatives, and guests from Gomel asked questions and shared their experience of implementing their own projects.

 – A roundtable is a format where you can ask in person about the format of certain events. I have noted several points for organizing and creating projects that I may use in the future, – said Alexey Kozhemyakin, a second-year student at the Faculty of Automated and Information Systems at Gomel State Technical University.

After the round table was over, the project participants laid flowers at the monument to the students and teachers of the BPI who died during the Great Patriotic War. This solemn moment became a symbol of the continuity of generations and respect for history, bringing together students from two universities.

We would like to thank the guests from Gomel for their interest. We believe that this visit has become the starting point for further fruitful cooperation between the two universities.
