Yesterday, on April 28, the National Library of the Republic of Belarus hosted a joint seminar of the Belarusian National Technical University and ASCON. The large-scale meeting was devoted to topical issues of digital product lifecycle support.

The meeting was opened by the first Vice-rector of BNTU Andrey Safonov, who welcomed the participants and outlined the importance of digital transformation in the training of modern engineers. Then the floor was given to Vladimir Pyzhik, Director of ASCON-BEL, and Nina Surkova, Head of the Department of Engineering Graphics at Bauman Moscow State Technical University, who also made presentations and outlined the key areas of the seminar.



The Director of ASCON-BEL presented Ascon's digital solutions for industry as an actively developing environment of compatible software products that ensure the technological sovereignty of the Republic of Belarus. In addition, Anton Smirnov, Head of the PLM Solutions Department, presented the ASCON PLM Complex for product development and pre-production to the seminar participants.

The experts paid special attention to education. Nina Surkova shared her author's methodology for teaching engineering and computer graphics in the COMPASS-3D environment at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University. This topic was supported by Alexandra Zverko, Senior lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technologies at BNTU, with an up-to-date report on the training of engineering personnel in the digital transformation of mechanical engineering, as well as Alexey Golubev, senior lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology at VSTU, with a report on the formation of digital skills among students and the use of ASCON software in the educational process.

Konstantin Saskovets, a leading engineer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology of the Belarusian-Russian University, presented an agent-based approach to creating cyber-physical systems to the participants of the seminar using the example of the Industry 4.0 laboratory of the Belarusian State University.

The participants also had time to immerse themselves in practical cases.Artyom Moisa, a 1st category design engineer at Belenergoremnaladka, shared his experience in using digital twins and reverse engineering to repair unique energy equipment. Oleg Klochkov, Head of the Computer-aided Design Systems Department at Mogilevliftmash, also shared his experience in implementing ASCON software products to solve real production problems.

Svetlana Tseluyeva, Senior lecturer at the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Processing Technologies at Gomel State Technical University named after P.O. Sukhoi, highlighted the topics of practical work with engineering classes and described how ASCON tools can be used to popularize engineering education among schoolchildren even before entering university.
Of particular interest was the presentation by Yulia Kasach, Head of the Digital Engineering Competence Center at BNTU. She presented in detail the main activities of the center: what tasks it solves, how it interacts with university departments and machine-building enterprises, what educational programs it offers within the framework of networking.

Lyudmila Garanina, Deputy Director of ASCON-BEL, completed the series of reports. In her speech, she touched upon the issues of finding and supporting talented students, and also spoke about the company's educational program, which allows future engineers to train for the needs of a particular enterprise.

The seminar ended with a summary and a lively discussion.
