At BNTU, the comprehensive safety of students was discussed

В БНТУ обсудили комплексную безопасность студенческой молодежи

Today, April 17, an instructional and methodological seminar for curators of 2nd and 3rd-year student groups titled "Organization of educational and preventive work with students" was held at the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU), with the participation of law enforcement representatives.

During the seminar, participants examined four key topics in detail:

  • prevention and counteraction of illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, precursors, and their analogues;
  • prevention of extremism among young people, with an emphasis on personal development, spiritual, moral, and physical qualities, as well as the organization of extracurricular activities;
  • protocols for action regarding minors when using the global computer network Internet;
  • prevention of crisis situations and suicidal behavior among students.

The operative officer of the drug control and human trafficking prevention department of the Soviet District Administration of Minsk, Police Captain Kirill Sergienko, focused the audience's attention on modern schemes for involving young people in the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their analogues.

The operative officer of the criminal investigation department of the Soviet District Administration of Minsk, Senior Lieutenant Evgeny Falkovsky, in turn, addressed the topic of preventing extremism among young people. He explained in detail why every student and curator needs to care about personal and public safety, observe digital hygiene, critically evaluate any incoming information, and remain vigilant when communicating online and in real life. Special attention was paid to recognizing destructive calls and not succumbing to provocations.

The district inspector of the juvenile delinquency inspection department of the Soviet District Administration of Minsk, Police Lieutenant Nikita Bogatov, touched upon the pressing issue of using the global Internet network. He outlined protocols for teachers to follow when identifying risks of minors being drawn into destructive online communities.

The final topic of the event was the prevention of crisis situations and suicidal behavior among students. Educational psychologists from the socio-pedagogical and psychological service of the ideological and educational work department at the center for ideological work and youth affairs of BNTU, Irina Rykhlitskaya and Irina Michalchuk, shared methods for early recognition of emotional distress and ways to help students.

We thank the speakers for the useful dialogue with BNTU curators and are confident that the knowledge gained will help teachers not only to identify threats in a timely manner but also to build a trusting environment in which every student feels care and security.
