Career guidance in action: BNTU student inspires future applicants in Mozyr

Профориентация в действии: студент БНТУ вдохновил абитуриентов в Мозыре

On March 30, 2026, as part of the career guidance program at the Belarusian National Technical University, a meeting was held between students of Secondary School No. 11 in Mozyr and a student of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

The event was led by Ivan Filipchik, a student in group 10305224 of the Technological Equipment Department. Selecting a current student as a speaker allowed for informative communication with potential applicants, providing detailed answers about the specifics of the program, admissions rules, and the opportunities available to graduates of the faculty.

During his presentation, Ivan Filipchik discussed in detail two key program tracks offered by the Technological Equipment Department:

  • Technological Equipment Engineering—a program focused on training specialists in the design, operation, and modernization of modern production facilities.
  • Computer-aided design of tool systems—a program in which students master digital design methods for cutting and auxiliary tools, as well as technological equipment, using specialized software.

Special attention was paid to the use of 3D modeling technologies in the educational process. Prospective applicants were informed that modern engineering training is impossible without proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) systems, which allow for the creation of virtual prototypes of products, their strength calculations, and optimization of designs before physical manufacturing.

The student described the department's laboratory facilities, equipped with modern technological equipment, CNC machine tools, measuring systems, and specialized workbenches. This equipment allows students not only to study theoretical foundations but also to acquire practical skills using equipment relevant to real-world industrial applications.

A significant portion of the presentation was devoted to student research activities. Ivan Filipchik informed the students about opportunities to participate in student conferences, national competitions, and more. It was noted that the Technological Equipment Department actively engages students in research projects aimed at solving pressing problems in the mechanical engineering industry.

At the end of the meeting, 10th- and 11th-grade students received up-to-date information on admissions targets, application deadlines, passing scores from previous years, and the advantages of targeted training, which guarantees employment after graduation.

Career guidance meetings with BNTU students continue. The University places particular emphasis on collaboration with general secondary education institutions to attract motivated young people to engineering fields.
