Today, on March 11, a meeting was held at the Belarusian National Technical University with the Consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Belarus, Isroiljon Kalandarov. The representative of the Embassy held a conversation about legal responsibility and respect for the local culture and traditions, discussed support for Tajik students in Belarus, and the prospects for cooperation between BNTU and universities of Tajikistan in the field of education and science.
From the Belarusian side, the meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of International Cooperation, Pavel Shirvel; the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Cooperation, Olga Dashkevich; the Deputy Dean for Ideological and Educational Work of the Faculty of International Cooperation, Ekaterina Lazuko; and the Deputy Head of the Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs, Head of the Department for Ideological Work and Crime Prevention, Vitaly Adamovich.
At the beginning of the event, the Consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan emphasized that the main goal of his visit was not a formal inspection, but live communication, prevention, and receiving feedback from the students. The first point the consul focused on was strict compliance with the laws of the Republic of Belarus.
— Belarus is our strategic partner, and it is important for us that our students represent the face of Tajik youth abroad. I strongly urge you to comply with the legal norms.
The second important block directly concerned their studies. The consul urged the students not to forget the main purpose of their stay in Belarus, namely, obtaining a quality education.
The diplomat separately addressed the topic of employment. According to him, part-time work should not interfere with studies or violate the law. Isroiljon Kalandarov's words were supported by the representatives of BNTU.
The Dean of the FIC also advised those wishing to work part-time to contact the university administration or the embassy to find a safe option, for example, at state-owned enterprises or factories, where students' rights would be protected.
— If difficult situations arise, call the embassy, contact the university staff. We will not scold you, but will try to help so that things do not lead to negative consequences, — added the Consul.
Summing up the meeting, Isroiljon Kalandarov noted the high level of awareness among the students and thanked the leadership of BNTU for their systematic work with foreign students.
— I believe that the level of awareness among the students is sufficient. The embassy conducts various discussions. This is not the first time we have gathered with the students; quite often such meetings are held at the embassy itself with the participation of the ambassador and the consul. We actively explain the rules of stay in Belarus. Today I highlighted this point as a separate item: the legislation of the Republic of Belarus must under no circumstances be violated. It is necessary to observe and respect the rules of stay and traditions of another country. To be honest, BNTU, in my personal opinion, is one of the leaders in terms of adapting foreign students. We have very close relations with your university, active, good, well-established cooperation. I would like to express my gratitude to the university leadership for showing sufficient attention to our students, and to foreigners in general.
The meeting was held in the format of an active dialogue: students could ask any questions regarding their stay, studies, and daily life in Belarus. At the end of the event, Isroiljon Kalandarov wished the students successful studies and a worthwhile time in Belarus.
