Today, December 10, a number of celebratory events took place at the Belarusian National Technical University as part of the celebrations: the opening of the Board of Honor and the gallery of scientific schools and the Solemn Council.
The Board of Honor
Traditionally, 64 new names are added to the Honor Board each year. These are the names of those who have brought BNTU glory through their hard work, knowledge, and initiative.
Alexander Bakhanovich, First Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, and Sergei Kharytonchyk, Rector of BNTU, took the curtain off the Board of Honor in a solemn ceremony.
– We support all employees and students who strive to make our university better and show excellent academic and work results. We see this and always glorify it," said the rector.
Extended meeting of the BNTU Council
Following the Honor Board unveiling ceremony, guests and participants headed to the assembly hall of the main building, where an extended meeting of the BNTU Council was scheduled to begin in just a few minutes. This is an equally significant tradition for the university, as Rector Sergei Kharytonchyk noted when opening the meeting:
– What conclusions and tasks lie ahead, including for the new five-year plan? First, the fulfillment of the instructions our President gave us at the meeting with the scientific community on November 21 of this year, namely, work toward results, toward the real sector of the economy.Further improvement of the quality and education, active mentoring and spiritual and patriotic education of our youth, activation of our scientific and innovative activities led by the scientific and technological park of our university, further development of the material and technical base of the university.Dear veterans, dear colleagues, and beloved students, we are confidently moving into the second century of our university's history. I believe that BNTU will always serve as a reliable support for the country in training personnel and conducting scientific research for the real economy.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests. Among them is Alexander Bakhanovich, First Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus,Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavsky, Patriarchal Exarch of Belarus, Grigory Rapota, Advisor to the Director General of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, Honorary Professor of BNTU, Leonid Melnikov, Head of the Innovation Policy Department of the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus,Sergey Shcherbakov, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov, Rector of the Minsk Theological Seminary named after Ecumenical Teachers and Saints Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom Archpriest Victor Vasilevich, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Igor Voitov, Chairman of the Public Council of BNTU graduates, honorary graduate of BNTU, Honored Builder of the Republic of Belarus Nikolay Ladutko, Sergey Kandybovich, Chairman of the Federal National Cultural Autonomy of Belarusians of Russia, and Yuri Masyuk, General Director of Belavtodor Holding Management Company.
Alexander Bakhanovich announced the welcome address of the Government of the Republic of Belarus:
– Dear teachers, staff, students and veterans of the Belarusian National Technical University. On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Belarus and on my own behalf, I cordially congratulate you on a significant date in the history of the University, the 105th anniversary of its foundation.The Belarusian National Technical University is the country's leading engineering hub, a recognized center of education, science and innovation, and a forge of highly qualified specialists who make a significant contribution to the development of the domestic industrial complex, strengthening the technological sovereignty and production potential of Belarus.The achieved results are ensured thanks to the professionalism of the university's teaching staff. Your deep knowledge, dedication to your profession, and commitment to continuous improvement allow BNTU to develop dynamically and maintain a high standard as one of the most reputable higher education institutions for engineering personnel training.
Grigory Rapota emphasized BNTU's contribution to the country's development:
– In 1920, Belarus represented half of what it is now in the territorial sense. There were only three or four industrial enterprises in the country. And at a time when the civil war had not yet ended, the country's leadership decided to create a higher educational institution for the training of engineering personnel.I think that even in the wildest dreams, the then leadership of the country did not imagine what Belarus would be like in 105 years. Today, it is a country with high-tech manufacturing, which can be proud of its successes in the automotive industry, biotechnology, chemical processing and many other industries. As for the high-tech and production of these products, the republic is a leader in the territory of the CIS countries. And, of course, graduates of the Belarusian National Technical University made a great contribution to this.
In celebrating its 105th anniversary, BNTU not only sets a course for further development but also recognizes the achievements of those who have made and continue to make significant contributions to the university. In honor of this, a number of awards were presented during the meeting.

Also, as part of the expanded meeting, a solemn ceremony was held to present badges and certificates "Honorary Doctor of BNTU" to Metropolitan Veniamin, "Honorary Graduate of BNTU" to Archpriest Viktor Vasilevich, "Honorary Graduate of BNTU" to Igor Voitov, "Honorary Professor of BNTU" to Sergey Kandybovich and "Honorary Graduate of BNTU" to Yuri Masyuk.
The solemn council marked the summing up of the previous years and paved the way for new achievements. The first of them was the opening of the BNTU gallery of scientific schools.
Gallery of BNTU Scientific Schools
The Gallery of Scientific schools is an opportunity for all students and staff of the university to immerse themselves in the legacy of BNTU, to learn about the destinies and works of those who laid the foundation for the modern scientific potential of the university. This significant facility was opened by Sergei Kharytonchyk, Alexander Bakhanovich, Nikolai Ladutko and Honored Worker of Education of the Republic of Belarus, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Professor Fedor Romanyuk. The concept of the exhibition and its significance for the Polytechnic were highlighted by Ksenia Yakushenka, Vice Rector for Research.
Each event has become a ringing chord of the melody of the 105th anniversary of the Polytechnic, but this is far from the end and the celebrations will continue at the faculties of the university.
