"Modern engineering is one of the key factors of the state's progress". BNTU at the international conference

«Современное машиностроение – один из ключевых факторов прогресса государства». БНТУ на международной конференции

The international scientific and technical conference "Promising areas for the development of mechanical engineering in the field of mobile machines, technological equipment and energy systems" is taking place in Minsk from November 27 to 28 with the participation of representatives of science, education and manufacturing enterprises of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation. The event is dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the Belarusian National Technical University.

Today, on the first day of the conference, the National Library of Belarus hosted a plenary session. Andrey Safonov, Co-chairman and First Vice-rector of BNTU, delivered a welcoming speech.

– Modern mechanical engineering, integrating advanced achievements in education, manufacturing, digitalization and information technology, is one of the key factors of the sovereignty and progress of the state. And I am pleased to note that the list of participants in today's conference and the announced reports eloquently underlines this. As well as the need for interaction between science, education and production. Among the participants are professors, heads of scientific schools, leading specialists and chief designers of large machine–building enterprises, representatives of companies that are very successfully introducing new digital information technologies into the educational and production process.

The event is also attended by Anastasia Arabey, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (Co-Chair), Alla Kalina, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Machine Parts (Deputy Chair), Elena Dubovskaya, Associate Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Machine Parts (Executive Secretary), Anatoly Skoybeda, Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Machine Parts, Head of the Branch Oleg Devoino and Valery Sheleg, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Research Laboratory of Laser and Plasma Technologies.

During the meeting, the participants made plenary presentations. They were devoted to various aspects of mechanical engineering, including innovative approaches to the design and manufacture of mobile equipment, the development of new materials and coatings, and the introduction of digital technologies into educational and production processes. In addition, the participants discussed the prospects for the development of the industry and exchanged best practices. The presentations made it possible to determine the further vector of development of mechanical engineering in the two countries in order to increase competitiveness in the international arena.

The work of the sections was organized in four directions:

  • design of mobile machines and technological equipment;
  • engineering technologies and materials;
  • diagnostics of mobile machines and technological equipment;
  • theory and practice of technical education in mechanical engineering.

In the first section, participants immersed themselves in a range of topics covering the full life cycle of machine creation: from identifying promising areas and designing drives to aspects of artificial intelligence and structural reliability. Special attention was paid to the automation of design work and technological preparation of production, as well as to the energy systems of mobile machines and the economic justification for their creation.

The second section was devoted to advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing, as well as the properties of modern structural materials and issues of quality assurance of mechanical engineering products.

In the third section, the participants focused on modern methods of diagnosing and ensuring the safety of mobile machines and technological equipment, predicting their resource.

The fourth section included reports on the theory and practice of engineering and pedagogical education. The speakers shared their experience in engineering and teacher education, talked about innovations in teaching and how to more effectively convey complex technical knowledge to students, because it depends on which personnel will come to the industry.

The discussion in the sections will continue tomorrow, November 28. The participants will also summarize the results of the conference and outline the further development of the machine-building industry.
