On Friday, August 1, 2025, the results of the 2024/25 Republican Universiade team championship were announced. The Belarusian National Technical University took first place.
For reference: The Republican Universiade is held among students of higher education institutions majoring in physical education and sports. The organizers are the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus, sports federations (unions, associations), the Republican Center for Physical Education and Sports of Pupils and Students, and the Belarusian Athletics and Sports Association.
As part of their university teams, Polytechnic University students competed in 27 sports. At the Universiade, BNTU representatives took a respectable third place in badminton, men's volleyball, men's sambo, men's and women's karate, orienteering, Greco-Roman wrestling, and cross-country running. Polytechnic students also took second place in powerlifting, swimming, 3x3 basketball, canoeing and kayaking, weightlifting, and chess. BNTU also won in table tennis, arm wrestling, men's beach volleyball, women's handball, men's mini-football, and kettlebell lifting.
Kirill Agievich, a student in the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering, shared his impressions of participating in the kettlebell lifting competition:
- The Universiade is a really cool sporting event! At first, when I was waiting for my turn, I was really nervous, but that's always the case before any competition. But I really enjoyed the atmosphere! I'm really looking forward to the next Universiade! Not only to show off my skills, but also to enjoy the atmosphere of sporting spirit.
In the overall standings, the Belarusian National Technical University scored 1,794 points and took first place, second only to the Belarusian State University of Physical Education, which took the overall title.
