Today, on 17 May, the Belarusian National Technical University held an open day dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and the 105th anniversary of the Polytechnic. A distinctive feature of the event was the scale and location: the main venue was the Polytechnic stadium.

The stadium was filled with a large number of stands and interactive zones, where applicants had an opportunity to communicate live with representatives of faculties and enterprises - staff customers.

The official start of the Open Day was the opening ceremony. Rector of the Belarusian National Technical University Sergey Kharitonchik made a welcoming speech.
- I am glad that today you have come to us. You will plunge into the world of your future profession, work with our faculties, get acquainted with the opportunities that your future profession will open for you. Our university will do everything possible to make you successful in your profession and to make your profession not only not disappointed, but was a guiding star for you all your life. Success to you!

All present could enjoy the performances of soloists of the vocal and pop studio ‘Loving Soul’ of the Department of Cultural Affairs of BNTU, raising their spirits and setting themselves up for productive work on the choice of future speciality.

For those who still had doubts about their choice of profession, a career guidance platform was organised, where anyone could take tests and get professional advice. It was also possible to sign up for a tour of a favourite faculty.

To record their presence at the open day, those who wished could take vivid photos and videos in the photo booth and video-spinner. The comfort was added by the work of the field kitchen, where you could taste tasty porridge or pancakes and warm yourself with hot tea.

In the meantime, we took a short comment from First Vice-Rector Andrey Safonov. He noted that in 2025 the first graduation of students of engineering classes will take place, which is a very important event for the Belarusian National Technical University.
- The first graduation of engineering classes will take place this year. I think this is a great event not only for BNTU and those who oversee this direction in the country, but also for the whole Republic of Belarus. This is a serious step in career guidance training for our young people. I am talking about motivated children for further inclusion of engineering directions. As for admission, the main points are related to the interview, i.e. a simplified scheme of admission without entrance tests. Of course, these applicants must have a high average score on the certificate and pass the interview.

Many applicants do not attend the open day for the first time, especially students of engineering classes. Thus, Nikita attended the open day for the second time and decided on the speciality he plans to enter.
- I learnt about the open day on the BNTU website, as I had been to such events before. Today I decided to visit it because I want to enter the Belarusian National Technical University at the Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics, I am interested in the speciality ‘information systems of production technologies’ and I wanted to learn more about admission. I believe that the speciality is in demand economically in our country, that's why I chose it.

Parents of applicants also actively attend open days together with their children in order to make the right decision together. Svetlana did the same.
- We repeatedly came to the open day. Initially we wanted to enter the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering, but at the moment we have changed our minds. We know for sure that our daughter wants to enter the economics speciality, and now we are choosing the faculty at BNTU.

The Open Doors Day is a great opportunity to choose a speciality, which was agreed by a fourth-year student of the Faculty of Construction, because he was also helped to choose a speciality by the Open Doors Day, but four years ago.
- The Open Doors Day is actually a very good event, which helped me to choose BNTU and the Faculty of Construction. I am here for the third time as a student, helping my faculty and applicants by telling them about my speciality.

In addition to the work of stands, within the framework of the open day there was a short meeting with the BNTU management and representatives of enterprises - customers of personnel. Parents and students were told more about applying for general competition, targeted training, specialities demanded by the economy.

After the meeting there were consultations on interview for graduates of profile classes of engineering orientation, on entrance tests for applicants and for those entering on the terms of targeted training in mathematics and foreign language, as well as training consultations ‘How to pass the centralised examination and centralised testing for 100 points’.

The scale of the open day is really impressive. The event provided an excellent opportunity for applicants to get acquainted with the university, learn about their future place of work and study, and get a lot of valuable advice from representatives of the faculties.
See you at the Admissions Campaign 2025!
