Graduate of BNTU Evgeny Tikhontsov is a bronze medalist at the Olympic Games in Paris

On Saturday, August 10, the winners and prize-winners of the weightlifting competitions were awarded within the framework of the Olympic Games in Paris. Yevgeny Tikhontsov, a graduate of the BNTU  Faculty of Sports Engineering was a member of the National Team of the Republic of Belarus.

Following the results of the tournament, Evgeny became the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in the 102 kg category. The result of the athlete at the Palais du Sud arena following the results of two exercises was 402 kg (183 + 219 kg).

President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko noted that the athlete continued the rich traditions of the national weightlifting school.

– By showing an iron character, the will win and indomitable fortitude worthy of a professional, you pleased all Belarusians who supported you at the Games. I sincerely congratulate you, your coaches and the team on the Olympic award. May it become an inspiration for all young athletes on their way to sporting achievements," the President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus said in a congratulatory message.

The thousands-strong staff of the Belarusian National Technical University is proud of Yevgeny Tikhontsov's achievements and congratulates him on his brilliant performance in the Olympic arena. We wish you success at all sports starts and conquering new professional heights!
