Summer has come, which means that more than 50 thousand children who received secondary education this year are faced with choosing a higher educational institution to continue their studies. Many, of course, have already made their final decision, but for those who are still thinking, we have prepared top 5 reasons why you should enter  Belarusian National Technical University.

Reason No.1 – BNTU is the country’s leading technical university

Belarusian National Technical University is a higher educational institution with more than a century of history and an outstanding reputation. The university teachers (1222 people) are experts in their fields: 97 doctors of sciences and professors, 402 candidates of sciences and associate professors, 1 academician and 5 corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Accordingly, students receive practical knowledge from professionals in their field.

In addition, BNTU has strong connections with the country's leading industrial enterprises and companies, which contributes to the successful employment of students. Reason No. 3 – recognition on the world stage

After updating the data of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities in 2024, Belarusian National Technical University took the 4264th position among more than 31 thousand higher educational institutions in the world. Polytech ranks 336th position among universities in Central and Eastern Europe, and among Belarusian universities it is in  top ten.

According to the QS World University Rankings, BNTU is among  #801–850 leading universities in the world, and in the Republic of Belarus it takes an honorable second place. According to international data from Scimago Institution Rankings (SIR), the university ranks 8646th in the University Rankings sector. The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings put BNTU on the 1038th place among world universities and in  top three among Belarusian universities.

Belarusian National Technical University is actively expanding international relations, opening up more and more opportunities for its students to study abroad, participate in internships and exchanges, as well as establish numerous international contacts that can be valuable in their future careers.

Reason No. 4 – vibrant student life

The structure of BNTU includes the Department of Cultural Affairs, which has 24 creative groups of vocal, choreographic, instrumental, theatrical, and literary directions. Six of them have the title “Folk”. Team members regularly take part in events on a city, national and international scale.

In addition, the university hosts more than 130 events annually with a total audience of more than 15 thousand people. The largest of them are the student creativity festival «BNTU Spring», «BNTU Freshman», the festival of Belarusian culture, the festival of national cultures, etc.

BNTU also has well-established youth structures such as the trade union of BNTU students and the Public association "Belarusian Republican Youth Union", and each student is part of such a self-government structure as the BNTU Student Council. Reason No. 5 – BNTU is one of the most sporting universities in Belarus

BNTU has 18 gyms, a swimming pool, a stadium and 4 halls with stands. More than 5 international-class masters of sports and about 70 masters of sports study at the university; special attention is always paid to sports equipment.

Мany students actively participate in sports competitions, achieving high results. A striking example is Anton Smolsky, a student of the Faculty of Instrument Engineering, and the leader of the men's national biathlon team of the Republic of Belarus. He is a silver medalist at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games, a silver and bronze medalist at the World Cup, and a bronze medalist at the Junior World and European Championships.

The Sports Department of the Faculty of Sports Engineering has 32 areas: from basketball to swimming. 

BNTU has 23 sports sections in various fields: arm wrestling, badminton, basketball, biathlon, cross-country skiing, boxing, Thai boxing, volleyball, beach volleyball, freestyle wrestling, handball, kettlebell lifting, Greco-Roman wrestling, judo, athletics, table tennis , tennis, powerlifting, swimming, triathlon, rowing, shooting, sambo, orienteering, taekwondo, weightlifting, football, indoor football and futsal. There is only one conclusion: those who lead (or want to lead) a sports lifestyle will definitely not have time to get bored.

The BNTU team took part in a peat football tournament.
The 8th National Peat Football Tournament, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Belarusian energy system, was held on June 20, 2026, in the village of Pravdinsky, Pukhovichi District, at the Sergeevichskoye Peat Briquette Plant branch of the Mingaz State Unitary Enterprise. Twenty-seven teams participated, including some from Russia. A team of students and faculty from the Faculty of Mining and Environmental Engineering and the Faculty of Power Engineering of the Belarusian National Technical University took to the peat fields. The peat football tournament is not only an exciting competition but also an opportunity to network with colleagues and meet like-minded individuals.
